| Review | Burberry Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base
While I have owned and used this product for several years, I have yet to do a formal review on it. Burberry's brand aesthetic and style is all about classic and effortless beauty. Their products are designed to be soft, enhancing, and timeless. I have always really gravitated toward the brand because I always try to achieve a classic and effortless look. The Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base is one of their core essential product from the line and has been around since the creation of the beauty line.
The Burberry Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base retails for $48.00 USD and is available at Sephora. Saks, Nordstrom, and other retailers. It is packaged beautifully in a gunmetal Burberry check packaging that slips off to reveal the product's plastic pump packaging. The casing is very sophisticated and is very classic Burberry. They will often release this product with limited edition packaging for the holidays. The pump also twists to lock, which is nice for travel because it minimizes the risk of spillage. The Fluid Base comes in two shades Nude Radiance No.1 and Golden Radiance No. 2.
Nude Radiance - is a light sheer champagne shade with multi-dimensional fine shimmer throughout.
Golden Radiance - is a sheer golden bronze shade with multi-dimensional fine shimmer throughout.
These Fluid Bases are intended to be used as a glowing primer for your base. The provide a very natural glow and hydration to the skin. I find that this product enhances my wear time by a little bit but only by an hour or so. It feels more like a sheer liquid illuminator, which it works great as! I like to mix this product in with my foundations and other base products, I think this makes the glow more noticeable. Due to it's sheer texture the glow is not as noticeable underneath medium to full coverage bases, which is why I like to mix it in with those kind of bases.
The formula of this product is a gel consistency and absorbs into the skin quickly. It doesn't leave any residue but still provide a bit of hydration for dry skin types. It is one of my favorite primers because it creates a very natural healthy glow under my foundations and it is so versatile. It feels very refreshing on the skin and perfects the skin just a touch. If you choose not to use a base over it, you skin still looks healthy and perfected. Although this product has a glow to it, because it is quite subtle, it can work on all skin types. It doesn't make your skin look greasy, just healthy and fresh!
The primer helps extend the wear time of my makeup up to 8+ hours, depending on the weather, your activity levels throughout the day, etc. The primer isn't oil-controlling so you will see a bit of oil peek through throughout the day, depending on your skin type. However, if you powder your face, this will significantly reduce the oil break through. I find even with powder on top, my skin still has a beautiful and natural glow. If you prefer more glow, I love mixing this product into my base products! The gel formula works so well with all foundation and base formulas. It provides and extra bit of glow without taking away much of the coverage.
Honestly, this product is a cult-classic and will always have a place in my makeup collection. It is a product I often reach for and it never disappoints me. It just gives a very natural and fresh glow, without any greasiness. This product is so versatile because it can be used as a primer, illuminator, and mixer. The packaging and product is luxurious and beautiful. It feels very special and every time I use it, and I am always happy with the result. I have been using it a lot lately, since my skin has been feeling and looking quite dry and dull. I have yet to find a base product that this product doesn't work well with. The shimmers are so fine and diffusing making your skin look ethereal and fresh. I highly recommend this product, especially in the Nude Radiance shade, which is universally flattering for all skin tones!
