Chanel Les Beiges Water-Fresh Complexion Touch Review and Swatches

| Review | Chanel Les Beiges Water-Fresh Complexion Touch

Ok, after years of popularity over the niche Chanel Les Beiges Water-Fresh Tint (full review here), the brand has finally come out with a medium-coverage version of this unique formula! I feel like the original Water-Fresh Tint was very hit or miss among people because of its very sheer coverage but it was still such a beautiful formula. When news of a new version of this complexion product was to be released, the masses went crazy and being such a huge fan of the original but sometimes wanting more coverage, I knew I had to get my hands on this new version! This review is going to go into the formula and how it compares to the Tint.

The Chanel Les Beiges Water-Fresh Complexion Touch retails for $65.00 USD and is available Chanel and other retailers. This complexion product is packaged in a cylindrical clear bottle with a pump, which allows you to see the unique product texture and color contained inside. The unique texture is defintley best dispensed using a pump due to its watery gel- texture. This packaging really lets the product shine and it is a practical packaging for travel. This product also comes with its own brush, which will be discussed further later.

SHADES

This formula currently comes in 16 shades, which while isn't an expansive range, it is much better than the Water-Fresh Tint shade range. This, however, is a good sign because it means that this formula actually has more pigment to it than the original Tint. The shade range really doesn't cover all skin tones and could still use an expansion. What I do like about the shade range of this complexion product is that it follows the same naming convention as the other complexion products and foundations in the Chanel range. This makes it very easy for people to select their appropriate shade match base off of previously used Chanel foundations.

B40 - I went for the shade I am typically in Chanel foundations and it is a perfect match. I really love it when brands are consistent with their color range because it makes it so easy to match yourself. This light medium shade is great for anyone who is about an NC30-35 in MAC Cosmetics foundations. It is a beautiful neutral toned medium beige.

FORMULA

Like the original Les Beiges Water-Fresh formula, this foundation is a clear gel-like serum with pigment pearls suspended throughout the gel. This iconic texture makes this formula incredibly unique. The clear serum is what gives this formula its water-like texture and it's fresh finish while, the pearls deliver the color and the coverage.

This complexion product comes with a application brush, which is an incredibly small dense brush with short tapered brush hairs. I appreciate the addition of an applicator or brush but this one is very small and isn't the easiest to work with. It takes much too long to apply the foundation all over the face with this tiny brush and while it does offer s streak-free application, it really isn't worth it. I highly recommend using a larger dense buffing style brush or even your fingers. I find that I really like the way this formula applies with fingers.

The formula offers a very nice medium coverage that can be built up a bit more but I don't feel is is designed to be full coverage and worth layering to achieve a full coverage. It is best to use the foundation to cover the majority or your redness, discoloration, and minor imperfections then, go in with a concealer to cover major imperfections. With a formula so expensive and not necessarily designed to be full coverage, using more coverage to achieve full coverage is a waste of money. After the first layer I would already consider the coverage to be medium coverage, it covers all redness and minor discoloration on my skin but also covers a bit of my sunspots. A second layer offers a more perfect finish and more of the deeper pigmentation on the skin but my sunspots still show through the foundation but it just appears a lot lighter.

The finish of this foundation is beautiful! It is a very natural and skin-like finish. It really looks creamy and soft on the skin. It is the most natural looking and most sin-like finish I have come across with a foundation. It doesn't look glowy, dewy, or luminous but the finish isn't flat at all. Like I said, it just looks like real skin with this soft dimension.

The texture of this foundation really does feel like water, despite the medium coverage and natural finish. It feels refreshing and like water when applied to the skin. It instantly melts into the skin and provides a beautiful creamy veil over the complexion. It blends into the skin so effortlessly and quickly. The formula doesn't have a tendency to streak and looks very smooth and even on the skin. This formula glides over texture and pores, making the skin look quite flawless. Additionally, the formula just feels really good on the skin. It feels very comfortable, hydrating, and lightweight on the skin. The formula really flexes with the natural texture of the skin.

This formula wears very well on the skin and can last past eight hours, depending on your skin type and the conditions you're wearing it in. I have dry skin and the foundation doesn't look dry or make my skin look drier. However, my t-zone can get a bit oily throughout the day but the foundation didn't breakdown over time. I don't often powder my face and it wore beyond eight hours for me but oil will come through, for me, that was in my t-zone. If you powder your complexion, it will last longer and look more polished for longer.

THE LOOK

You can see that this foundation looks fresh and glowing on the skin but it still has a great coverage and creamy texture on the skin. I did not powder my face in this first image and if it was a colder month, I probably wouldn't but for the warmer months, I would powder. If you take a look at the foundation in the second look, this is what it looks like when it has been powdered. It still looks really natural and light on the complexion.

FINAL THOUGHTS

I think this formula is absolutely stunning! It is a unique formula and texture that makes it feel refreshing, light, and hydrating without any oils. It is such a creamy and comfortable formula that sits so well on the skin and lasts all day. This is a very effortless formula that is easy to apply, blend, and work with in general. This formula feels luxurious all around and it just makes my skin look so good. This is a fantastic formula for everyday or even special events. It really covers enough and looks great in pictures. If you were disappointed in the coverage from the original skin tint, I think you're going to love this one! I think this is a universally flattering formula for all skin types and all ages. It's a very forgiving and a delight to use. This formula has become my new favorite foundation and I can't recommend it enough! I know I will be repurchasing this foundation in the future.

  1. Great review but I really don’t think this shade matches your skin tone… B10 or B20 would look much more natural on you!
