Did someone say, "cream bronzer"? Seriously, shut up and take my money! As you may or may not know, I have a deep love for cream bronzers and while this product is a more versatile product than just a cream bronzer, it's pretty close. I would say it qualifies for the category and I am very excited to try out this new formula! It is definitely something that seems really unique to the beauty industry as far as a multipurpose product goes but maybe I'm being deceived.

The Makeup By Mario SoftSculpt Transforming Skin Enhancer retails for $30.00 USD and is available at Sephora. This product is housed a simple, white, plastic compact with a frosted translucent panel in the front to see the product. It's not a great window to view the product because it is frosted so, when you own multiple shades like I do, the can look very similar through the frosted panel. I still have to look on the back of the compact to see if I have the right shade or open up the compact. Considering this is designed by a makeup artist for his kit, it doesn't seem practical at all. The compact has a simple snap closure. Overall, the packaging is lightweight and simple. There's nothing particularly special about it.

SHADES

This product comes in six different shades ranging from a light beige to a deeper warm brown. As you can tell from the name of this product, it is designed to be a enhancer and sculptor, not necessarily a foundation or base. The brand calls it a "skin tint", which makes a lot sense considering the formula. This is why there aren't that many shades but you really don't need too many either because the formula is sheer and forgiving. I selected the following shades:

Light-Medium - This shade is a slightly cool creamy beige with a subtle pink hue. While it looks a bit more like a foundation color more than a bronzer, it is a great shade for a fair to light-medium skin tone and it does add a nice subtle warmth to the skin

Medium - This shade is a creamy light tan that does add warmth to the skin but actually leans neutral in tone. This is a really great shade for light-medium to medium skin tones.

FORMULA

This formula is intriguingly unique. It is a very glossy, slick, and balmy texture. It is very smooth and glossy. as you run your fingers over it, you can feel the slippery texture. Although the formula is slippery and slick, it isn't overly emollient, greasy, or tacky. The formula is actually very thin and lightweight on the skin. The formula is sheer but very buildable. You can go from very natural and sheer to a more intense bronzed or enhanced skin look. Due to the slick texture, it blends very easily and seamlessly into the skin.

The finish is quite dewy and glossy on the skin. I personally love a dewy and glossy look to my skin but it may be a bit much for those who have an oily skin type. Since this formula doesn't set down, it will remain textured and glossy on the skin. Think of it as a bronzy glaze on the skin. I like this but it also doesn't last as long, it can transfer, and it makes your skin look very dewy. If you want that glow from within look and make the formula last, you can set the formula with a powder bronzer or powder product.

While this product is part of the SoftSculpt range, the brand also suggests that the product can be used as a skin enhancer or skin tint. Since there aren't enough shades to really cover all skin tones, think of this product as a bronzing skin tint. It is designed to give your skin just a touch of warmth and enhance the skin but not necessarily cover it. You can use it all-over as a bronzing tint to the skin or as a bronzing and dewy primer for your makeup. When applied all over my bare skin, the product provides a really beautiful warm tint to the skin and a glow. It makes the skin look naturally healthy and bronzed. I think this is a great option for those who don't like wearing foundation, those who like a no-makeup makeup look, or those who are on vacation and you just want a natural glow without using a skin tint or tinted moisturizer. If you use this product as primer, it is best to apply a sheer to medium coverage foundation on top. This will give you a little boost of warmth to your foundation, altering it just a shade or so.

When used as a bronzer, this product gives the skin a healthy and glossy bronzed glow. Since the formula is thin, the cream has a translucence to it that looks really beautiful on the skin. While it can give the skin a very noticeable bronze look, it still lets the skin shine through, which makes it look natural and really beautiful. It is also unlike your typical cream bronzers where they are more opaque and it is just like applying a different colored cream foundation to the face. This product as a bronzer is easily the best use of this product because you are less likely to over apply the product compared to other cream bronzers. You can achieve both a sunkissed look or a sculpted look with this cream, although it will be a little more subtle. I personally, love how natural it looks on the skin. It just makes your overall complexion looks so healthy!

Given its glossy finish, this is a product that won't last on the skin nearly as long as other cream products but it still has a fairly decent wear to it. I find that it can last up to eight hours with the right conditions. These conditions include the type of primer that is used, foundation, the temperature, and climate of your area. Most days on my dry skin type and relatively mild climate I live in, I will see light fading at the sixth hour of wear but I still see all the bronzer there long after the eighth hour. You can also choose to set this product with a powder bronzer and it will dull a little of the gloss but you will still achieve a glowier finish to your powder bronzer. Plus, your bronzer will last beyond eight hours without fading.

THE LOOK

In the first two photos, I applied the Light-Medium shade on my cheeks and temples as my bronzer over my foundation. You can see it looks very subtle and adds a healthy glow to those areas.

In this next set of photos, you can see my bare skin in the first photo and in the second photo is the shade Medium applied all over my skin as a "tint" or as a primer for my base.

FINAL THOUGHTS

I am a HUGE fan of this formula! This is a very unique cream bronzing product due to its thin, balmy, and slightly glossy texture. This bronzing cream is unlike any formula I have seem or tried before since it is a mixture of a balm, gloss, and cream bronzer. The very light and thin texture doesn't make this formula feel heavy or greasy. It just slicks onto the skin and makes the skin looks so healthy and glowing! This is my dream cream bronzer formula but I know its not for everyone. I know those with oilier skin types will probably want to stay away from this glossy formula. I just love the translucence of this formula because you can really build the color and play with it but it still blend into the skin and looks like a part of the skin. I didn't think that there could be more unique formulas released at this point in the beauty industry but this one is so unique! I can't recommend this formula enough! The price and performance is phenomenal!
