Augustinus Bader is known for its skincare treatment approach to every product they release. That is no exception when it comes to this pricey lip balm but is this lip balm worth the price? This balm doesn't cost some pocket change but it also has skin rejuvenating and renewal properties. Can a lip balm really do more than just hydrate the lips? Read on to find out more about this formula. 

The Augustinus Bader The Lip Balm retails for $38.00 USD and is available at Augustinus Bader and other retailers. This balm is housed in a sleek and luxurious metal copper tube with a blue interior lining. This packaging suits the brand's luxurious aesthetic and fits in with the rest of the range. The balm twists up for convenient and easy use. It has a very classic balm design and can easily fit in a pocket or handbag. 

SHADE

This lip balm only comes in a universal invisible shade; however, I really hope we'll see a shade extension from the brand. Some tinted lip blams are always great to have at my disposal. I'd love to see Augustinus Bader move a little bit toward color cosmetics, as they have when partnering with Victoria Beckham. FORMULA 

This lip balm has a very slick and silky smooth texture. The balm glides onto the lips. leaving a very lightweight and thin layer of balm on the lips. This balm instantly makes your lips feel smoother and leaves them with a slick but not greasy finish. The blam doesn't feel like your typical oily or greasy balm but it feels like a silky thin veil. The balm leaves the lips with a very natural finish, not gloss or shine, it just leaves the lips looking naturally hydrated. 

After some time wearing this balm, you can see the difference in your lips! I find that after a couple hours, your lips will look significantly smoother. So much so, that if your lips are already in fairly good condition, your lip lines will be completely be pumped out! No lip lines! Your lips will look unbelievably flawless! Also, your lips will be significantly softer, smoother, and will be very hydrated. 

You don't need to apply much to see results. One swipe is enough to treat and hydrate the lips. I find that if I used this before bed, the balm is hydrating and treating my lips throughout the night. This is an impressive wear time and treatment time for a lip balm. I typically use a very thick and gloopy lip mask in the evenings to keep my lips hydrated. For such a thin texture, this lip balm really penetrates the lips and delivers long-lasting hydration and treatment to the lips. 

However, I do miss the thick and gloopy texture of my lip mask in the evenings so, sometimes I will apply the balm and my lip mask on top. I feel like this helps seal in the lip balm. I treat it a lot like a serum for the face and the lip mask is like the moisturizer I apply on top. I only do this when I feel like my lips are severely dry, which is rare but does happen. 

Since I have been using it consistently for almost a month now, I have noticed tremendous improvement in the lines on my lips! The lines on my lips have diminished greatly. I used to have many vertical lines on my lips and many of us do but many of the fine ones have diminished and the ones that were deeper have plumped out and are less noticeable! It is really quite impressive! Also, my lips are so much smoother, softer, and hydrated even when I don't have the balm on.

TFC8 - The miracle ingredient that Augustinus Bader is known for, TFC8, is a complex of amino acids and vitamins that help promote cell renewal. If you're wondering why the cost is so high, this is the technology you're paying for and I must say, it is well worth it! This ingredient is what delivers the instant and long term results of smoother, softer, and more supple skin, or in this case, lips. 

Lip Plumping Complex - This complex is unique to this product and there doesn't seem to be much information on it. Augustinus Bader claims that this complex: 

A powerful triple-action compound derived from plants. Smooths the appearance of wrinkles, adds moisture, and pumps up volume for noticeably plumper and more supple lips.

I definitely notice the difference in the suppleness, plump texture, and reduction of lines on my lips. If it is due to this complex, it well worth the money being spent to get more youthful and healthy lips. 

Candelilla Wax - This formula uses a vegan-friendly wax that is derived from a desert botanical. It is a natural hydrator, helps prevent moisture loss, and is nutrient-rich. 

Bisabolol - Used in his other skincare formulations, bisabolol is a component of chamomile essential oil. It soothes the skin, has anti-inflammatory properties, and helps support a healthy skin barrier. It is a great ingredient for treating skin conditions that cause inflammation. 

Vitamin E - An essential hydrating ingredient to many hydrating formulas, vitamin e is a restorative skin conditioner. It optimizes hydration levels but also contains antioxidants to help fight environmental aggressors. 

FINAL THOUGHTS 

Listen, I really hate to be the person that says, you need this ridiculously expensive lip balm, but you kind of do. The price is certainly one to wince at when you even think of purchasing such a pricey balm but the results are real and true! I have to say that's what I've always loved about the brand, they don't try to lie to you with big fancy-sounding made-up pseudo-scientific words. They have the results to back up their claims and their products are just very impressive! 

This balm has smoothed and plumped out my lips like none other has before! In addition to that, it genuinely has anti-aging technology in it! This anti-aging technology is no joke and it is the reason why Augustinus Bader is so renowned as a brand. Their anti-aging complex truly works and will reduce lines and wrinkles anywhere, even on the lips! The lines on my lips have diminished greatly and they look so youthful!

One thing that I have learned to do as I've aged is to treat my whole body as I do my face. This includes the tiniest details like my lips. I believe if you invest in your skincare, no matter where you're applying it, it will pay off in the long run. I have seen and felt amazing results with this balm. Is it a must-have? No, because of the price. But, will I repurchase this again? 100% YES! It delivers results and I love the effect it has on my lips.
