Victoria Beckham Beauty Cell Rejuvenating Priming Moisturizer in Golden Hour Review and Swatches

| Review | Victoria Beckham Beauty Cell Rejuvenating Priming Moisturizer in Golden Hour

The moisturizer that Victoria Beckham swears by (her own moisturizer, shocking) has a new look! I can't deny that the Californian in me loves bronzed and glowing skin so, I couldn't resist picking up the latest addition to the VBB range. If you want a thorough review and details on this formula, check out my review of the original shade here. I will briefly cover this formula in this review but since the formula is the same, I don't want to repeat too much.

The Victoria Beckham Beauty Cell Rejuvenating Priming Moisturizer in Golden Hour retails for $95.00 USD for 30 ml and $145.00 for 50 ml. I went for the bigger size this time because I prefer this bronze coloring to the original and I also think it is a slightly better value.

This priming moisturizer is housed in a heavy glass bottle with a pump. The bottle has a tortoise shell-like pattern, a signature of the VBB brand. The bottle feels very luxurious and heavy, not exactly ideal for travel but beautiful to behold. The pump is of high quality and easy to control the dispensing of the product. Overall, It's premium packaging for a premium product.

SHADES

This is the newest shade release from Victoria Beckham Beauty. I really didn't think she would have released another shade considering the first one is sheer and quite universal. I'm not complaining because I love a luminous bronze primer or illuminator. It's something I use regularly to add a healthy color and glow to my skin or as something to help add a little more color into my base products that are a bit too light for my spring and summer complexion.

The Golden Hour shade has a soft bronze base with a subtle rosy hue and contains a lot of warm golden shimmer. The pigment isn't strong, so it shouldn't radically change your complexion but it will just add a very subtle warm hue to your skin. I strongly believe that all skin tones can wear this shade because it sheers out and melts into the skin seamlessly.

Compared to the Original shade, Golden Hour just has a touch more color in the base shade but it doesn't dramatically affect your complexion. For many people, both shades would look identical on the skin because they have such sheer formula. If you want a bit more warmth or you have a really deep skin tone, I can see Golden Hour becoming your preference. However, the Orginal shade really is universal because while it looks white, the base is completely translucent and invisible.

FORMULA

The only difference in formulation for Golden Hour is the coloring, so, you can find a detailed review of this formula and its many uses, here. However, here is a brief overview of the formula below.

The texture of this priming moisturizer is lightweight and slightly balmy. It feels hydrating but not greasy or oily on the skin. With my dry skin, I still prefer to use a moisturizer underneath and this product as a primer on top. However, if you have a more normal to oily skin type, you can forgo any additional moisturizer.

The shimmers in this formula are very fine and they don't emphasize texture or imperfections on the skin. The glow that this moisturizer offers is very fresh and natural, leaving the face looking very luminous and healthy. This glow will shine through light to medium coverage foundations enhancing them with a glow. However, the more matte a foundation is, the less likely you will get a glow out of this primer since it has such a subtle effect.

This formula is touted as an antiaging treatment, along with it's priming and illuminating properties. While it does contain the famous TFC8 developed by Augustinus Bader, it doesn't have the same skin treatment effect as the Augustinus Bader creams, you can find a full review of both creams here. I feel that this product is much more a hydrating primer than it is an antiaging moisturizer. While it is always nice to have a primer with antiaging skincare infused into it, it will not give you the same level of treatment as the original cream, hence the HUGE price discrepancy. The Augustinus Bader creams are almost twice the price of this one and that is for good reason.

All that being said, this is still a great hydrating and illuminating primer. It has a variety of uses from mixing it into your foundation to using it as a targeted highlighter. Like I stated, I go into the uses more in my original review, here.

FINAL THOUGHTS

I think this product is a solid priming moisturizer and does pretty much what it claims to do. I feel that the skincare properties are a little exaggerated, as I don't see or feel the same results from this cream as I do with the Augustinus Bader creams. If you look at this product as strictly an illuminating primer, it is a very good one. Luxurious, hydrating, and luminous, this priming moisturizer has some beautiful properties but the price is quite high for all that and a little bit of skincare. Don't get me wrong, skincare infused products are great and I think we should squeeze in as much skin treatment as we can throughout the day but for this steep price, it's not exactly worth it. You can find many illuminating primers that will give you the same hydrating and illuminating properties for much less and then, splurge on the real deal, Augustinus Bader creams!
