For so long, those of us interested in truly clean skincare must choose between clean or effective. Why couldn't we have both? Well, the technology was never thoroughly researched or developed. I just really wanted to share this amazing and innovative product with you all. 

ABOUT THE BRAND

Herbal Face Food was founded by J. Michael Zenn, the author of the book The Self Health Revolution. After years of tanning beds, his skin was damaged and he searched for ways to repair 15 years of damage! After a ton of research and a lifestyle change, he created Herbal Face Food. I don't think I could tell his story better than he can, so if you want to know more about the brand and founder, read this. 

I must say, I really admire him for changing his lifestyle and trying to find a natural means of repairing his skin! Obviously, his research and development were successful because he is sharing his skin secret with all of us. Think about it, his products were designed to heal 15 years worth of harsh damage! The pipette included is very high quality and draws in the perfect amount for product for one application. 

FORMULA 

This serum is developed from 100% plants! Not "plant-based" or "plant-derived", which can mean that the products aren't truly clean and natural but just "come from plants". As you know, most ingredients "come from plants" so, companies can use this to sell a formula that isn't actually clean. This formula is created from food-grade ingredients and is even edible but not recommended. This formula is developed from a concentration of 20 of the rarest plants to create a serum that is anti-aging, multi-correctional, anti-viral.

This serum is the least potent of the serums that Herbal Face Food offers. Like retinol and other potent products, you need to build up your resilience to the formula because when you initially start you will experience some sensitivity. This has the lowest concentration of the powerful antioxidant blend and as your skin becomes accustomed to the formula, you can move up to a more potent concentration. Some people will find that the Serum I is strong enough for their skin and there is no need to move up. Also, if you have youthful skin or less damage to your skin, you may not need to move up until much later.

The brand also offers a product called The Cure (full review and results here), which is the highest concentration of this antioxidant blend. This is used ONLY as a spot treatment. I will go into this product further in another review but I did use it in conjunction with the serum, as directed. 

The serums offered by Herbal Face Food are proven to be the strongest and most powerful serum on the entire beauty market! No, I'm not exaggerating and it does seem insane that this is the best-kept secret considering its potency and proven results. If you head to their website and take a look at this chart, it shows the antioxidant content of popular brands compared to Herbal Face Food. This chart uses an official antioxidant scale and you can see how the Herbal Face Food Serums greatly surpass the antioxidant content in popular beauty brands. You can see that for the price, you are receiving a significantly more potent product! 

I tested this serum for 1 week twice a day (morning and night) without any additional products. I didn't use any moisturizers, serums, toners, or oils. I simply started my testing by exfoliating my skin with a physical scrub and I cleansed my skin every time prior to applying the Serum I and The Cure. Prior to dispensing the product, it is extremely important to shake the bottle well to make sure all the ingredients are well blended. I will dispense a quarter-sized amount (about one pipette's worth) of The Serum I, which covers my face, neck, and decolletage. This elixir has a soft orange tone with a beautiful natural sparkle. It has a thick gel-like viscous texture with some little air bubbles. It also has a strong natural fragrance that reminds me of fresh rosemary. This scent will linger but if you apply other products on top, it will be significantly diminished. 

The serum absorbs quickly into the skin and doesn't leave any residue behind. It does feel quite moisturizing despite the fact that it doesn't have an oily or rich texture. It feels very much like a standard serum. For the first week of testing, I didn't use any moisturizer and normally, my dry skin would not be pleased about this but this serum really helped naturally balance my skin and kept it hydrated. Some people will experience tingling or a burning sensation when using the serum, this is normal. Since my skin is accustomed to using fairly strong ingredients like chemical exfoliators and retinol, I didn't experience any sensation with Serum I. However, when using The Cure, I felt a significant burning sensation. This tells you how the serums scale up dramatically in potency. I will say, be careful around your eyes, especially if they are sensitive, these serums are intense. 

This serum plays very well with other skincare products, natural or not. I have layered this serum under pretty much every kind of skincare product I own and it works beautifully. This intense serum can even be paired with other potent ingredients like retinol, this depends on the potency of the retinol and how accustomed your skin is to the serum. I found that after using a very strong chemical exfoliator, I felt a much stronger sensation to the products.

 After speaking directly with the CEO and asking him all my questions, I even learned that this serum acts as a protective barrier and primer for makeup! We all know that not all makeup is created equally and some products don't have the best ingredients in them but this serum helps protect the skin and primes it for makeup! Let me tell you, this is tried and tested by me and it truly works! 

THE RESULTS  

After my first night of use, the first thing I noticed was a significant reduction of texture on my skin! My skin felt very smooth and soft! My milia under my eyes were significantly reduced! This is something I had tried everything to reduce but nothing seemed to work other than this serum and treatment. I was, to say the least, IMPRESSED! My skin was also very supple and it had a very healthy glow to it. 

After my first week of use, I noticed my skin was significantly more supple and softer! It had an incredible bounce to it, that I rarely experience with many skincare products. Much less, a 100% natural skincare product. I love natural and organic skincare but I haven't found anything that truly treated signs of aging, until now. One of the most hopeful results was the fading of my sunspots! Again, I have used peels, vitamin c serums, dark spot treatments, etc. but nothing as potent as this serum and treatment! The fading was significant for only a week of use and I honestly couldn't believe these products were all-natural. 

After two months of use, the serum still continued to work exceptionally! I am happy to say that it has completely replaced my vitamin c serum. I can't believe how much more effective this treatment is than even a very potent vitamin c serum. My skin's elasticity has increased so much and my lines are plumped out. I have always been very insecure about the line around my mouth getting deeper as I age (what can I say, I'm an expressive person) and this serum has plumped out wrinkles that I thought were ever-deepening. Since it is loaded with antioxidants, there's no doubt that it is an anti-aging powerhouse, that fights and protects against environmental and free radical damage. That not only means lines and wrinkles but discoloration as well. 

The one month mark is when I saw a huge difference in my sunspots and they have just continued to lighten over time. To be fair in this review, I also used Serum I with The Cure on my sunspots as a spot treatment. These are meant to be used together to help accelerate the repair and treatment of the skin. 

My skin is baby soft! I mean, it's unbelievable how soft and smooth the texture of my skin is! Keep in mind to regularly exfoliate because that does help the serum work more effectively. The enzymes in the serum really help to retexturize and resurface the skin, creating a super supple and smooth complexion. Again, on rougher spots of texture, I apply some of The Cure to help with the treatment and together,  they are a dream team! 

This serum doesn't only help with signs of aging, discoloration, and texture but it also helps strengthen the skin! Think of it as a giant dose of vitamins and nutrients for the skin! It helps your skin produce collagen, heal damage, and improves the overall health of your skin. When your skin is healthy, it can help fight and prevent those signs of aging and heal skin disorders. After using it for over two months straight, my skin is probably the healthiest it's ever been! Even when I'm not eating the best, I feel like this serum helps prevent me from breaking out and prevents my skin from looking dull.

After reading several articles myself and from my personal experience, I feel very comfortable saying that these products work! I had no idea that plant extracts could be so powerful but I'm a convert after trying these products! 

FINAL THOUGHTS 

Clearly, this is a rave review for the brand and its products! I can't recommend these products enough! I was skeptical at first because, in my previous experience, natural products just didn't have the power and potency to transform the skin but after trying these products, I can't deny that they deliver results! I don't typically believe in miracle products when it comes to skincare and if you have read my reviews in the past, there are very few products that I deem magical but these serums are MAGICAL! What I'm saying is RUN, DON'T WALK and GET IT NOW! You really won't regret it! It is very rare that I find a product that is unlike anything that already exists on the market and these are SPECIAL! I mean really unique in the fact that they are 100% made of just plants and they heal and treat everything! From texture to discoloration and sunspots to skin conditions, this serum actually does it all. I know it's so hard to believe but just trust me on this. You NEED to try it for yourself! These products have become a staple in my routine and like I said, I no longer need my vitamin c serums. This does it all AND MORE! I couldn't be happier with the results I have experienced and I will continue to use these serums till the end of time. I plan on possibly moving up on the treatment scale and when I do, I will be sure to write a review of Serum II and Serum III.
