| Review | Chanel LES BEIGES Sheer Healthy Glow Highlighting Fluid - Summer 2020
When it comes to summer makeup, there's nothing I love more than a beautiful healthy glow and Chanel is delivering all that and more this summer! These glowing highlighting fluids will have you dreaming of beautiful summer days while you're at home. I couldn't resist picking these up as soon as they hit the site because of their promise of healthy glowing skin. The exciting part, this formula is phenomenal and quite unique!
The Chanel LES BEIGES Sheer Healthy Glow Highlighting Fluid retails for $48.00 USD and is available at Chanel and other retailers. Housed in a luxurious clear glass bottle with a pump, these highlighting fluids dispense easily and allow you to have total control over the amount of product being dispensed. The bottle is heavy and has a sleek design. It is as elegant as the Chanel name.
SHADES
There have been previous editions of the formula but for the Summer 2020 collection, there are two shades available. Both of which are very summer appropriate and universally filtering shades.
Pearly Glow - Pearly Glow is as the name implies, a pearly glow. The shade is an ever so subtly warm pearl shade. If a true pearl shade is white, this one leans just a touch golden and it contains a mixture of ultra-fine gold, green, white, and pink pearlescence throughout the liquid.
Sunkissed - This shade is also very aptly named, as the shade is very much a "sun-kissed" color. It is a very soft golden bronze shade with a very subtle rosy undertone. The golden pearl is the strongest in this shade but it also contains some subtle flecks of pink and green pearlescence.

FORMULA & FINISH
These liquid highlighters have a bit of a tendency to separate a bit if you haven't used them in a while, so I recommend giving them a very good shake prior to using them. They have a pretty traditional liquid texture, not too runny but not quite a cream either. The pigmentation of these two shades vary, Pearly Glow is quite sheer, while Sunkissed, has more pigment to it but it still isn't enough to make a dramatic difference. I believe both shades can be used on a wide variety of skin tones depending on how you choose to use these. On my medium skin tone, they both work well as a highlighter.
The finish of these highlighters is very glossy and glass-like but the amazing thing about the formula is that it sets on the skin! It leaves no tacky, sticky, or greasy residue on the skin to achieve this glass skin look on the skin! It just gives my skin such an incredibly glossy, wet, and glass-like finish that actually lasts! This is, of course, ideal for the summertime when the weather is hot and we tend to sweat. This finish and formula are unlike any highlighter I have ever owned and used before! It is truly something special and stunning!
One important thing to note is that these highlighters have a very strong fragrance. It does fade quite quickly but the fragrance is actually very fresh and beachy. The scent that I associate with the Soleil Tan de Chanel. I think it's a beautiful fresh fragrance but those who have sensitive skin may want to be wary.
I want to discuss how this formula performs for its various common uses:
As a primer or glowing base...
As a base all over the skin, these highlighters give you are very fresh and glowing finish to the skin. It has a much stronger glowy finish than an illuminating primer because there is a fair amount of micro shimmer in this formula, however, I don't find that this formula emphasizes texture on the skin. Also, because the pigment is sheer, these won't alter your skin's coloring significantly. This method will often yield in a more natural glow.
As an illuminating highlighter to mix into bases....
When mixed into a foundation or a base, it really depends on the ration of highlighter to base you use. Obviously, the more highlighter you use, the more glowing your base will be. A 50/50 mixture will still give you a very strong glow but it won't emphasize texture. Again, because the pigment is quite sheer, these highlighters won't have a big impact on your base's color, it will just add a glow. This method of application can range from very natural to extremely glowy, it all depends on how much product you choose to use.
As a targeted highlighter...
This is probably my favorite way to use this product because the glossy and glass-like finish is so strong and something so unique to this formula. Until I started using this product, I had yet to find a formula that could give me this effect so powerfully without leaving my face feeling sticky, tacky, or greasy. It is a truly special targeted highlighter. This method will give you the strongest glowing finish to the skin because the texture of this product really shines when it's on top of your base.
THE LOOK
Here is how it looks as a targeted highlighter. I applied Sunkissed all over my cheek and Pearly Glow on my cheekbones, down my nose, and on the sides of my forehead. This is extra glowy but I went a little crazy with the application of these.
FINAL THOUGHTS
I don't think I could praise this formula enough! It is a truly incredible and unique formulation that I haven't come across before! The glass-skin effect that these highlighters provide is extreme! Yet, you don't run into the issue of having a tacky, sticky, or greasy feeling on your face! It's truly miraculous! Easily,m my favorite way to wear these highlighters is as a targeted highlighter on the cheeks or cheekbones because it gives me an irreplaceable glass shine that I can't get from another liquid highlighter! However, I love the versatility of this formula because it looks great alone, as a primer, or mixed into bases as well! I think if you HAD to get something from the summer 2020 collection, I HIGHLY recommend picking these up! They are a glass glaze in a bottle and any glow-obsessed human is going to go crazy for this texture and finish! It is so surreal, healthy, and stunning!
