What shades can people never get enough of? Warm and fiery shades. If you're active in the beauty community, you know that the beauty industry is flooded with warm eyeshadow palettes and we all still can't get enough of them. Enter in, another firey eyeshadow and face palette! Red Harness is one of four face palettes released by Tom Ford for summer. Packed with very familiar shades, is this palette really worth it? Or does it already exist?
The Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate Face & Eye Palette in Red Harness retails for $155.00 and is available exclusively at Nordstrom. Housed in a luxurious and sleek cognac and gold magnetic compact, this palette is weighty and compact. The rectangular shape and closure make it look like a small and sleek clutch.
SHADES
This color combination is designed to flatter medium to tan skin tones; however, anyone can use this palette if they'd like. I find that this palette in particular has shades that can suit a wider range of skin tones than the other palettes in the collection. The only issue would be that the bronzer may be too light for a deep skin tone to use as a bronzer.
Highlighter - This shade is a slightly warm and peachy champagne with gold, pink, and silvery pearl throughout. This shade will suit a wide variety of skin tones because it doesn't lean too warm and the shade is very natural.
Bronzer - This bronzer is a nice medium tan that leans quite cool with a subtle yellow undertone. This cooler and yellow-toned shade will suit most skin tones without making anyone's complexion look orange and unappealing.
Champagne Taupe - This shade is a very cool champagne with a subtle taupe undertone. The taupe undertone keeps this very bright shade from looking too stark on a medium to deep skin tone.
Warm Bronze - This shade is a warm amber bronze shade with a strong golden shimmer.
Rust - This warm rust shade has a orange-bronze undertone with some fine silvery reflects.

COMPARISON SWATCHES
The eyeshadows in this Red Harness palette look a lot like shades in very popular Honeymoon Eye Color Quad. When swatched next to each other, you can see they are quite similar but the Honeymoon Quad contains deeper, richer, more jewel-toned versions of these colors. The Honeymoon Quad is not as warm as the eyeshadows in the Red Harness palette.

The eyeshadows in this Red Harness palette look a lot like shades in very popular Honeymoon Eye Color Quad. When swatched next to each other, you can see they are quite similar but the Honeymoon Quad contains deeper, richer, more jewel-toned versions of these colors. The Honeymoon Quad is not as warm as the eyeshadows in the Red Harness palette.

FORMULA
Warning! This issue of the product completely falling out of the compact seems to happen quite often with this formula, which is why I wrote a whole article about it. This did happen to me with the highlighter in this compact, which is why you can see some damage to the product here. This is incredibly frustrating! Please be careful when tipping your compact over or traveling with the product. This formula seems to be much more delicate and because the powders are baked, there's no pan to press the product back into. I'm not sure if there is a remedy to the problem.
Eyeshadows
These eyeshadows are super silky and smooth! They have an incredibly creamy formula that glides onto the skin like butter! You only need a touch of eyeshadow to get full pigment intensity and the eyeshadows adhere to the eyes perfectly. The eyeshadows layer with each other very well but I did encounter some fallout because the eyeshadow texture is so soft. When you layer, you have to really build the color and the soft fluffy texture of these shadows tends to fall like dust on your face. I recommend doing your eyes first to avoid having to clean up a huge mess.
Other than a bit of fallout, this formula is exceptional. The eyeshadow really stays on the skin and will last beyond eight hours without a primer. The eyeshadows look as intense near the end of eight hours, as it does after the initial application. This particular palette is excellent because all the shades are very distinct and remain that way on the eyes throughout the day. The shades don't get muddy and they create a very dimensional look with a lot of depth. I love these sunset colors because they can flatter such a wide range of skin tones.
The soft and silky texture of these eyeshadows provides a luminous look but they don't emphasize texture or make your lids look crepey. They blend so seamlessly, you will not see the transition from one shade to the next. This soft luminous finish will be universally flattering on a person of any age. Keep in mind, that these gel-powder eyeshadows can be used wet to amp up the metallic finish and pigmentation.
Cheek Products
The cheek products in this palette are very creamy and smooth. They apply onto the skin seamlessly without streaks or leaving patches. The finish of the bronzer is slightly luminous but it doesn't emphasize texture or pores on the skin. It just sits beautifully on the skin and lasts. The texture of this gel-powder is smooth and soft enough to easily pick up on a brush without picking up too much product. The bronzer has a very buildable pigmentation, starting out with a nice light-medium pigment and building up quite quickly. This bronzer is much more pigmented than the bronzers from the other palettes. This bronzer blends beautifully into the skin and looks incredibly natural.
The highlighter in this palette is very soft and you can easily pick up too much product. A small sip into the pan and you will get enough to cover both cheekbones with a subtle glow. You can continue to build this highlighter to get a strong beam of light if you like. The shimmers are extremely fine and aren't noticeable on the skin. These shimmers won't emphasize texture or pores on your skin. You'll just get a soft and seamless beam of light on the cheekbones. The finish of this highlighter is very soft and can be worn very naturally.
THE LOOK
For this look, I applied the Warm Bronze shade on the inner and outer corners of my lid and I blended out the top edges with a bit of the Bronzer in the palette. Then, I took the Rust shade and applied it in the very crease of the inner and outer corners and on the lid. I essentially layered the Rust on top of the Warm Bronze but I let the Warm Bronze peek out above the crease. I also went back in with the Warm Bronze to pull the color up a bit more above the crease. I then applied the Champagne shade on the very center of the lid, blending the side into the Warm Bronze shade on my lid. I then took the Dirty Plum in the very corner of the eyes on the lid, blending into the rust shade. Finally, I used the Dirty Plum on a damp brush as a subtle liner on the upper lid. I repeated this eyeshadow placement on the bottom lid to complete the look.
FINAL THOUGHTS
This is by far, my favorite palette of the three that I purchased from this collection. Not only because it suits my skin tone, but I think this palette provides the most variety for a complex and dimensional look. The other two palettes didn't have enough variety in the shades and left my eyes with a muddy look after some wear-time. With this palette, all the eyeshadow shades are diverse but they complement each other perfectly. The formula of these eyeshadows is exceptionally silky, smooth, and creamy. They just blend out effortlessly, providing a professionally applied look with very little effort.
I think the bronzer and highlighter in this palette are the most universally flattering, suiting fair to even deeper skin tones. This palette is the most worthwhile to purchase with the exceptional formulas and the diverse color selection. You can really get the most out of your money with this palette. While the shades in this palette aren't unique, I highly recommend this palette. I appreciate the craftsmanship behind the quality of the formula and the selection of shades. If you're looking to splurge on a palette you can use year-round this one is an excellent choice!
