| Review | Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Lip & Cheek Glow

Pillow Talk is getting yet another product extension and at this point, I think we're getting further and further away from the actual original Pillow Talk shade. At this point, I think Pillow Talk name is just so iconic and being used to make the sale but obviously, it works because here I am reviewing these. Actually, the real reason why I wanted to get these was because they're a cream blush formula and I've been loving cream cheek products so much lately. I wanted to see what kind of formula Charlotte had up her sleeve for us.

The Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Lip & Cheek Glow retails for $40.00 USD and is available at Charlotte Tilbury and other retailers. It is currently a limited edition collection. These creamy cheek and lip products are housed in a small round plastic rose gold compact. The compact is very reflective and feels very lightweight. The compact has a snap closure that feels very secure for sealing in the cream product. They don't feel incredibly luxurious because they are so light but the packaging is cute. The compact easily fits in your palm and comes with a small mirror.

SHADES

This very small and limited edition cheek collection only comes with two shades. Neither of which really resembles the Pillow Talk color but are lumped into that collection really for sales. Maybe that's why neither of them is actually named Pillow Talk. The shades look very deep and rich in the pan but the formula is actually quite sheer.

Colour of Dreams - This shade is a soft watercolor rose shade. It has a very neutral brownish base and just a hint of peach. This shade would be the closest to the original Pillow Talk shade.

Colour of Passions - This shade is a rich light berry shade with a rosy undertone and hint of red. This is a very wedding-appropriate shade, it has a touch of color but still looks very natural.

FORMULA

These Lip & Cheek Glows have a very smooth and balmy texture. When you swirl your finger into the product, you feel that the product is firm but the surface is emollient but not greasy or oily. The formula is quite sheer but very buildable, to a certain extent. You will get a decent amount of color but the pigment is still very natural and on the sheer side. While this product doesn't set down at all,  it doesn't feel sticky or tacky at all, just a bit wet. The balmy texture feels almost like really moisturized skin, like the feeling right after you apply moisturizer or even a liquid foundation. This formula is prone to hair sticking to it, at least I haven't had an issue, but it is possible.

My thoughts when it comes to these multi-purpose products are that they often succeed in one area but not in all areas. Making a product's formula versatile enough to be successful for multiple uses is extremely difficult. Here is how this formula works for its various intended purposes.

For lips...

This product is extremely smooth, balmy, and hydrating. It glides over the lips like a lip balm but without the thickness or the rich emollience of a lip balm. It's a shockingly balanced texture because while it feels extremely hydrating, it doesn't feel heavy, thick, or vaseline-like. This formula really smooths over the lips and fills out any lines, leaving your lips feeling very plush and full. It offers just a hit of color like a tinted lip balm and is surprisingly hydrating. Again, it's not often you come across a formula that feels this hydrating but also feels lightweight and comfortable enough for the cheeks. I would say this is an excellent formula for the lips and it is a product I plan on carrying in my bag for touch-ups and reapplication. This formula won't last very long on the lips about two to three hours but the formula is very comfortable and a delight to reapply.

For cheeks...

This balmy and sheer texture blends into the skin beautifully because it doesn't have any tackiness that will lift foundation or bases. The sheer formula makes it a delightful cream blush because it builds up to a beautiful flush, instead of offering too much color upon initial application that makes it hard to blend out. You can just keep layering this product to get your desired fresh flush and it doesn't move around or look patchy at all. Due to its slick texture, it doesn't cause your hair to stick to your cheeks but it also isn't so emollient that it moves about or melts off your face.

This formula leaves a beautifully fresh and natural flush to the cheeks. It really makes your complexion look incredibly healthy and glowing. The lack of shimmer and the ultra-smooth texture ensures that pores and texture aren't emphasized on the cheeks. It feels weightless on the skin and I don't even notice that I'm wearing makeup. The formula is so easy to apply with your fingers, which is what you want with an effortless multi-use product like this. However, if your prefer brushes, I recommend a small dense buffing brush or a small dense stippling brush for application.

It adheres beautifully to the skin, lasting from six to beyond eight hours depending on your skin type. My skin is on the drier side and it lasts the whole day, about eight hours, as long as I'm not sweating.

THE LOOK

This is a full face od Charlotte Tilbury to demonstrate how these Lip and Cheek Glows work with the rest of the range. I'm wearing the Brightening Youth Glow (full review here) and the Flawless Filter (full review here) as a primer all over. Then, I applied the Tinted Moisturizer (full review here) on top. I applied just a touch of the Airbrush Flawless Finish Setting Powder in Medium in the t-zone and in the hollows of my cheeks where I then applied the Flawless Airbrush Bronzer in Tan (full review here). I also applied the bronzer in the crease of my eyes and added a bit of mascra. Next, I applied the Pillow Talk Lip & Cheek Glow and I topped my cheekbones with the Beauty Light Wand in Spotlight (full review here). I also lined my lips with the Lip Cheat Lip Liner Pillow Talk Intense and topped with the Pillow Talk Lip & Cheek Glow. This is a seriously fresh-faced GLOW!

FINAL THOUGHTS

I am VERY IMPRESSED with this formula! I don't think I've been this impressed with a formula from Charlotte Tilbury since the Flawless Filter (full review here). What is so amazing about this formula is that it works perfectly for both lips and cheeks! NEVER have I come across a formula that I would deem equally amazing on both lips and cheeks. Somehow, Charlotte Tilbury has found the magic formula that looks and feels incredible on the lips and cheeks! Usually, these multi-purpose products make a great cheek product but they really don't feel good on the lips. This is a luscious and luxurious texture on the lips too! It feels so smooth, balmy, and hydrating! My lips love the feeling of this formula! Paired with a match fresh flush on the cheeks, this is a winning combo for every day of the week! I just can't get enough of this formula and I'm so sad that it's limited edition! Charlotte, please make these permanent!!!! They are so amazing and unlike anything that is available in the beauty industry! I really can't rave enough about this formula! You really have to try it for yourself and experience its glory. Grab these beauties up because I guarantee you, you don't own anything like them!

  1. Oh my goodness I didn't know these were limited edition. I have to say you're right, sometimes you get a product that if it's a duo combo one, it's better for one than the other, but sounds like this is an exception and is brill for both! I think it looks so pretty and natural on you without being too intense of a shade xx

    1. I actually have it listed under "The Look" description. All I have on my lids is the Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Airbrush Bronzer in tan.
