| Review | One Over One Base Glow Sheer Light
One Over One is a natural and organic beauty brand with a mission to deliver clean and minimal beauty. They believe in makeup that naturally enhances the wearer and offers a timeless look that never goes out of style. I was very excited to come across this organic makeup brand on Octoly and be sent their products complimentary for reviewing purposes.
The One Over One Base Glow Sheer Light retails for $42.00 USD and is available at One Over One. The product is very beautifully and simply packaged in a plastic pump bottle. The design is encapsulates the aesthetic and feeling they are trying to convey. It is simple, elegant, and soft. Their philosophy is "keep it simple" and "simplicity is beautiful", which the packaging conveys beautifully!
The Base Glow Sheer Light is a liquid illuminator that can be used all over as a base, used as a targeted highlighter, or mixed into your base products. I love a good multi-purpose glow product and this one is organic! After all, One Over One is all about "less is more" and a multi-purpose product like this is really less is more. Formulated with only organic and natural ingredients like, Sesame Oil, Thyme leaf, Sage Leaf, Aloe Vera Juice, Avocado Oil, and Orange Blossom Extract, this product is 94% natural and 21% organic! PRIMER
The illuminator is a sheer golden beige liquid with golden shimmer. It appears dark in the bottle however when applied it sheers out to a universal sheer golden glow! I can see this flattering on all skin tones. It has a lot of gold shimmer but the particles are very fine and don't emphasize lines or texture. It has a liquid-gel texture and smooths over the skin very nicely and absorbs rapidly. It even offers a bit or hydration, which I love but leaves no residue on the skin. It leaves the skin smooth and prepped for base makeup. The fragrance is addicting! It smells like honey and citrus and remind me of my favorite honey mask from AveSeena (full review here)! It smells delicious but the fragrance doesn't linger which is nice. You really only smell it during the initial application.
HIGHLIGHTER
As a liquid illuminator, it offers a subtle golden glow to the cheeks. I really love the soft gold shade because it melds very beautifully into my medium skin tone, offering a very natural glow. I think the soft gold shade is very universal and can be used on all skin tones without looking too strong. As a highlighter this product is buildable but still looks quite subtle and natural, which what you would expect from a brand that believes in naturally enhancing makeup. I think it is beautiful for a "no-makeup" makeup look or in the summer, when you don't want to look overly reflective.
MIXER
This product makes a beautiful concoction with so many bases! I find the effect is a subtle healthy glow with a light-diffusing and subtle burring effect! Even when I mix the product into my sheer bases, I get a very beautiful diffused effect without compromising coverage! I think this is one of most beautiful illuminators for mixing into foundation, it is reminiscent of the Burberry Fresh Glow in Golden Radiance (read my review on the Nude Glow shade here). It is very subtle and soft but still creates an impact on the overall look. I always appreciate a organic and natural alternative to my luxury favorites!
FINAL THOUGHTS
I can never have too many illuminators in my life but I don't have many natural and organic illuminators in my life! In fact, this is the only one and I absolutely love it! It feels and looks luxurious and fresh on the skin. I love the versatility of this product, it means you really get a lot of value out of the product for the price. The fragrance is just delicious and dreamy, it really makes you want to apply it all over! You really don't need a lot of product to get a really great glow and I love that the shimmers are ultra fine, so they don't emphasize texture or pores. I highly recommend this multi-purpose illuminator for it's incredible clean and non-toxic ingredients but also for the beautiful radiance it provides! It feels really good to find a clean alternative that really performs like my favorite luxury brand products!
