| Review | Elemis Cleansing Balm
I know I'm very behind on this skincare trend but cleansing balms are awesome! In the past, I have been a big fan of cleansing oils but they tend to get a bit messy and don't always remove all my makeup. Cleansing balms are the product I never knew I needed, until I tried it. I am very lucky to have been sent this beautiful cleansing balm by Elemis.
The Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm retails for $64.00 USD for 105g and is available at Elemis. This big tub of product is contained in a very large plastic jar. For the enormous amount of product, the price is phenomenal! Trust me, you don't need much to get the job done. I have to say, with Elemis you never feel cheated in the amount of product you're receiving for such a luxurious product. I find many luxury beauty lines raise their prices to a ridiculous and unreasonable price but offer the standard amount of product or less! I can honestly say, you get your money's worth with Elemis!
Double cleansing has been a very popular skincare ritual for years but something I didn't often participate in. I actually didn't know what double cleansing meant for a while but it is the process of using a oil or balm to remove makeup, dirt, etc. and following up with a facial cleanser. This is something I would sometimes do with a cleansing oil but I was never really doing it consistently. This is mostly because I was lazy and often remove my makeup with a makeup wipe before cleansing. I know, shame on me because makeup wipes aren't environmentally friendly. Well, that's why I started gravitating toward a quick and easy removal process that is more sustainable, like cleansing balms.
This cleansing balm feels rich, thick, and a bit sticky initially when you are picking it up from the container. It has the consistency of honey but when you start to massage it into your skin, it becomes a creamy oil. You really only need a small amount, for me that is a swipe into the product with three fingers. This removes all my makeup, mascara, liner and waterproof products too! After you are done working the product into your skin, you remove the product with the cloth provided with the balm and warm water.
After removing all the product, I like to go in with my Elemis Foaming Cleanser (review coming soon) and thoroughly wash my face. My skin feels so clean and soft after using this product, plus all my makeup is removed. This is a much more sustainable option to using my makeup wipes, plus I feel the double cleanse method is so effective and good for my skin! It is very gentle, much more gentle than scrubbing my eyes with my makeup wipes. I love the way it just melts off my makeup and it washes away every bit so easily. It has been such a great addition into my skincare routine, especially as person who wears makeup regularly. The bonus is that cleansing balms are very travel friendly. You don't have to worry about the product spilling out and since it's not a liquid product, it's easier to get through security with it.
I highly recommend check out this product. I have always been a big fan of Elemis for their high quality ingredients and luxurious formulas. The are a very underrated skincare brand and this cleansing balm is a cult classic. It will have a permanent home in my collection forever because of how easy it has made my makeup removal routine.
