As you may already know, I am not a powder person but I am OBSESSED with the By Terry Hyaluronic Hydra Powders (full review here). The Hyaluronic Hydra Powder formula is unlike any powder I have ever used. With the hyaluronic acid infusion, my dry skin loves this formula and it always looks good! This formula is known for doing some magical things to the skin and it is SO EXCITING to see a pressed palette version! I was very kindly gifted this palette from By Terry. Read on to learn more about this latest launch.

The By Terry Hyaluronic Hydra-Palette retails for $ and is available at By Terry and other retailers. These powders are beautifully composed in a lightweight plastic compact. The compact has a slim and sleek profile, making it very easy to store and travel with. The compact is plastic but it is sturdy, high-quality, and feels quite luxurious. It has a large mirror, which is great for application, and the By Terry logo on the front.

SHADES

These powder palettes are available in two colorways with four shades. With these two palettes, you can cover all skin tones but realistically, medium skin tones will get the most use out of a palette like this because they can use all of the shades for a variety of purposes. Deep skin tones will find that only one shade will suit them as a powder and the others will be brightening or highlighting shades. Even fair skin tones may not find as much use for all the shades.

However, I am a huge fan of using a variety of powder shades to achieve my complexion. It is something I have been doing with the Hyaluronic Tinted Hydra Powders because this formula is more than just a powder. I love using these powders for setting, brightening, highlighting, and bronzing so, I am personally, really excited to have a variety of shades all in one palette. This is much more convenient than having multiple pots of product, especially, for travel.

The palette, nor the website, indicates the shades included in the palette but when I matched the shades in the palette up to the loose powder shades, they are identical. So, I believe these are the shades that coordinate with the existing loose powder shades.

Fair (top left) - This shade is a very light yellow powder, very reminiscent of banana powder used to brighten fair to medium skin tones. This shade would work ideally for a fair skin tone with a warm undertone or those looking to correct redness in their skin. For my medium skin tone, I like using it as a powder to brighten the high points of my face and under my eyes.

Medium Fair (top right) - This shade is a very light yellow shade, a very true banana powder color that is perfect for a medium skin tone for brightening and correcting any redness. This shade suits my skin tone quite well and makes my skin look very fresh. If I was to use a shade all over, it would be this shade.

Medium (bottom left) - This shade is a golden-toned powder suitable for a medium skin tone with very golden undertones. I like using this to add just a touch of warmth to my skin tone. I typically use this shade as one of my three bronzing and sculpting powders for the most flawless transition.

Dark (bottom right) - This shade is a warm terracotta shade with more of an orange undertone. This shade is great for brightening deeper skin tones and is also amazing as a bronzer shade for medium skin tones! The subtle orange tone neutralizes and brightens gray and ashy tones in deeper skin tones. As a bronzer, it warms up the skin beautifully and naturally but also helps blur and perfect the skin simultaneously. This is my sculpting shade for intense face definition and bronzing.

FORMULA

Like the original loose powders, these pressed powders are infused with hyaluronic acid for hydrating the skin during long hours of wear but it also allows the formula to flex with the skin. This powder never looks cakey, heavy, it doesn't skin into lines, or makes the skin look powdery. This is due to the extremely fine mill on the powder and the hyaluronic acid infusion. I typically avoid powders at all costs due to my dry skin but this powder never makes my skin look dry or emphasizes texture on my skin. This powder also mattifies where I do get oily but it doesn't make those areas look or feel dry!

The magic of this powder is that it doesn't sink into your lines or make your base look dry and crack on the skin. It just softly mattifies and absorbs the oil on the surface of the skin. This formula is so beautiful because it actually blurs and perfects the texture of the skin! This powder diffuses imperfections, pores, and texture. It literally filters the skin!

The powders are translucent so, when you use a shade close to your skin tone, it will completely disappear into the skin. The pigment is sheer but very buildable. It will give you a very sheer veil of coverage if you layer on more powder. I have been using the Loose Hyaluronic Hydra-Powders as contour and bronzer for years now. In fact, they are probably one of my favorite bronzing and contouring products because of the filtering and blurring effect it has on the skin! Due to the perfecting formula, it doesn't;t pick up on texture, pores, acne scars, or any imperfections and it glides on so smoothly that you get the perfect contour every time! It actually makes your skin look better! These were actually the powders I was planning on using on my wedding day for my powder and bronzer because I just love the effect so much!

This powder sets makeup so beautifully for long-wear without ever looking like powder on the skin! The hyaluronic acid helps the powder fuse seamlessly with the skin, leaving a soft and velvety finish. It definitely extends the wear of your foundation and bases. It also helps control oil and continues to make the skin look flawless throughout the day. This powder is so incredibly impressive because it goes so much farther than a simple setting powder. It creates a very surreal and flawless look to the complexion, unlike any powder I have ever encountered! It really renewed my love for powder again, after avoiding it for so many years because of my dry skin.

THE LOOK

I used the palette on both my face and eyes. I used the lightest shade under my eyes, the medium shade all over, and the two deepest shades as a bronzer/sculpting product. I also used the deepest shades to contour my eyes. You can see, even though I used powder all over, I still have a lot of glow from my dewy foundation underneath. I also used a liquid blush on top of the powder without an issue.

FINAL THOUGHTS

I LOOOOVE that I can finally take every shade of my favorite powder with me! I was carrying around four loose powders in my travel bag. Not only was this inconvenient but it limited space in my bag for other products. These powders are so incredibly smooth and soft! They blend into the skin like a dream with the most minimal effort. While I am not a fan of using powders, these are powders I will NEVER be without in my collection. They are one of the very few powder formulas that work for my dry skin and never ever look like powder! It just fuses into the skin and looks natural. The hylauronic acid infusion is no gimmick! This powder actually feels hydrating on the skin and never looks cakey or powdery. I just love the way this powder blurs and filters the texture of the skin. I have never used a powder that makes my skin LOOK BETTER than it actually is. This formula is a magical real-life filter and now that it's in a sleek little palette, I'll never have to be without my powders again! This formula is exceptional for all skin types because it mattifies and absorbs oil but also maintains hydration thanks to the hyaluronic acid. I can't recommend this palette enough and I believe it is well worth the price!
