When it comes to hair care, I can be quite picky. I want products that are effective, powerful, and have high-quality ingredients but I also don't want to pay a ridiculous price for them. I just don't think haircare should be so pricey and I also want ingredients that are relatively clean. I find my hair doesn't react well to too many chemicals so, keeping those to a minimum is ideal. ZionHealth approached me about trying their natural hair care line up and I was very excited to include some of their products into my routine because they had very unique formulations. FORMULA 

This Scalp & Hair Scrub also comes in other fragrances with slightly different formulas, Deep Cleansing Scalp & Hair Scrub Green Apple with Sea Salt and Deep Cleansing Scalp & Hair Scrub Pear Blossom with Sea Salt. The first thing you will notice about this formula is the beautiful fragrance. The Vanilla Coconut fragrance is a wonderfully warm and sweet fragrance that isn't too sugary sweet. The fragrance is strong and lasts in the hair but it isn't overwhelming. This fragrance is really delightful and is a luxurious addition to the cleansing experience. 

The scrub has a nice medium-coarse texture, which is ideal for the scalp. You don't want a very chunky or really coarse texture because it will be difficult to get into the scalp and get the exfoliation you need and if you have a really fine texture, it will dissolve before you can get a good scrub. The texture of the scalp scrub is ideal and really helps get into the scalp and it still has the grit to really remove grime, dirt, product, and excess skin cells from the scalp. This texture still feels very gentle for those with more sensitive scalps. 

I would say, start with about a tablespoon and add more if you need. I like to focus on the itchiest parts of my scalp from product build-up first. Using a scalp scrub helps relieve the itchiness immediately and it helps long term. I only wash my hair once a week to preserve my hair color, so I tend to have a very itchy scalp from dry shampoo and oil build-up on my scalp. I love using this hair scrub to really balance my scalp and make my hair really healthy. Just like the skin on the rest of your body needs to be regularly exfoliated, we also need to do the same for the skin on our scalp. It helps you reset the scalp and start with a clean slate every time you style your hair. We often neglect this part of our bodies and it is so essential to keep it healthy for healthy hair growth! 

If you're trying to grow out your hair, you need to be sure you providing healthy blood circulation to your scalp because it will help your hair grow faster. Using a scalp scrub will remove any dirt or blockage but it also brings blood flow to your scalp, helping you grow out your hair! Also, if you have dandruff or a very oily scalp, this scrub helps remove excess oils and any dead skin that may be on your scalp. It significantly reduces oily scalp and dandruff issues, which I notice are a big issue for me since I wash my hair so infrequently. However, it is important to wash your hair less but treat it more, which is exactly what scalp hair care is about. 

This scrub rinses out the hair easily and doesn't leave any residue. Your scalp will feel really clean and refreshed. This is a great time to follow up with any other scalp treatments to maintain the health of the scalp because anything following this will work more effectively. This is just like using an exfoliator on your skin prior to using your other skincare products. It primes the scalp to draw in healthy nutrients and vitamins for healthy hair growth.

FORMULA 

You're probably wondering what is a scalp detox and why do I need it? As someone who styles their hair regularly and who loves her dry shampoo, I often get a lot of product buildup on my scalp by the end of the week. Also, if you have an oily scalp, this product will really help balance out the oils on your scalp. This scalp detox contains apple cider vinegar, which is known to really draw out impurities and build-up of dirt, product, and oils on the scalp. Also, if you've ever used an apple cider vinegar rinse on your hair before, it makes your hair crazy shiny, silky, and soft! You may be concerned that this will make your hair smell like vinegar but it doesn't smell like vinegar at all! It actually has a very fresh and clean scent, which I absolutely love! 

There's also some salicylic acid in this formula, which helps exfoliate the skin on the scalp. I find this amazing for me because I only wash my hair once a week to preserve my hair color and by the end of the week, my scalp is insanely itchy. This is from a build-up of oils, dirt, and product. After using the Scalp & Hair Scrub, the physical dirt and build-up has been removed this scalp detox goes into the scalp and pulls out any kind of stubborn build-up and oils on the scalp, leaving the hair so healthy and clean. I love how shiny my hair looks after using this detox! Apple cider vinegar is amazing for putting the shine back into the hair. Since my hair is color-treated and often heat-styled, my strands often look very dull and damaged. However, with this detox and a little bit of hair oil, my hair looks so healthy and renewed! Even if I haven't had my hair cut in a long time!

FORMULA 

This formula is a blend of nutrient-rich and hydrating oils. While it is a blend of oils, the blend is very lightweight and doesn't make the scalp or hair greasy. It also doesn't weigh the hair down. I like using this after the scalp scrub and detox because, after the exfoliation and reset of my scalp, it can use a little extra nourishment. Also, I find when I don't use a scalp treatment or serum, my scalp gets itchy in a couple days after washing. When I use this serum, my scalp doesn't get irritated or itchy until my next wash day. 

I use this after the scrub and scalp detox. I recommend starting with a few drops on your fingertips, rub your fingertips together, and start applying in sections across your scalp. Not only is this formula soothing for scalp irritation, dryness, and itchiness but it really contains a lot of nutrients to help your hair grow. I often get asked about how I get my hair to grow so quickly. Part of it is diet and being healthy but the other part is really taking care of your scalp health. After all, that's where all your hair grows from, and providing the nourishment it needs to be healthy will help your hair grow faster. 

Massaging your scalp with this treatment will not only bring blood flow to the scalp but help the nutrients penetrate well for faster hair growth. This scalp serum makes your hair healthier and stronger by providing it with antioxidant-rich oils that keep the hair youthful and fight environmental damage. FINAL THOUGHTS 

Scalp care is as important as hair care and I believe that now that I have started a proper scalp care routine. I have used some DIY apple cider vinegar rinses in the past but they are certainly not as pleasant to use as this Detox Foam and not nearly as convenient to use. I love these scalp cleansing and detoxifying products because they really deeply cleanse an remove product buildup and soothe my scalp. This is something that I had underestimated the value of until I started doing it weekly and it has changed my hair health and look! 

My hair is significantly shinier, smoother, and healthier-looking! My scalp always feels clean, refreshed, and no longer feels irritated throughout the week. I've noticed I don't shed hair as much and the texture of my hair just feels silkier. I've never really had an issue with growing my hair out but I can tell you with confidence that if you do, the best thing to do is start caring for your scalp. Keep it healthy, clean, and nourished.
