| Review | Lisa Eldridge Elevated Glow Highlighter

A highlighter designed to elevate your glow beyond the traditional highlighter. No one else can do it better than Lisa Eldridge! With her years of industry experience and passion, she has developed a formula that is different from highlighters on the market. This versatile highlighter helps us achieve the coveted Lisa Eldridge glow with minimal effort. I'm all about easy makeup with lots of glow. If you find yourself loving a similar look, these just might be the unique liquid highlighter for you.

The Lisa Eldridge Elevated Glow Highlighter retails for $38.00 USD and is available at Lisa Eldridge. These liquid highlighters are housed in a beautiful and heavy frosted glass bottle with a gold top and a chunky doe-foot applicator. While the bottle is luxurious and beautiful, the chunky doe-foot applicator is my least favorite form of applicator because it is so unsanitary. As a makeup artist, you would think Lisa Eldridge would be more concerned about being sanitary. Even if you swipe some product onto the back of your clean hands, you're still sticking the applicator that touched your skin back into the bottle. This does not make it clean. I much prefer a pump, where the product has no exposure to the outside world until it is pumped out.

I also don't see the point in the chunky doe-foot applicator because it picks up so much product, that you have to dot it on the skin and you don't use the applicator for anything other than dotting it on the skin. This large doe-foot is not great for blending or a complete application, so why not have a pimp instead? The liquid isn't too thick and can be pumped out but instead, we have this awkward chunky doe-foot that isn't sanitary or really user friendly.

SHADES

This highlighter comes in 4 different shades to span a wide range of skin tones and let me tell you, this formula is quite sheer so, it does span a wide range of skin tones. Based on my experience with these, the shade you select doesn't really matter because the formula is sheer and even when built up there is only a hint of color. The tint just gives an undertone to the reflective pearls but for the most part, they pretty much all look the same on the skin. I would just choose a shade that you like the most because pretty much all of them will work on almost every skin tone. I have the shades:

FORMULA

These liquid highlighters are quite unique for a liquid highlighter. The pigment is quite sheer and translucent, which means regardless of the shade, it should work for any skin tone. This also means that the highlighter blends seamlessly into the skin and looks really natural. There's a reason all the shades are "skin tone" shades because they are designed to blend into the skin and look really natural. These are not meant to look like a highlighter but more of a true glow from within.

Like I stated in the previous section, the colors don't really matter because the formula is so translucent and sheer. The color only offers a subtle undertone to the highlight but doesn't dramatically affect the look of the highlighter on the skin. The reflective particles are extremely fine, almost like reflective dust, you really don't see or feel the individual particles on the skin. The particles create a glowing beam across the skin but because they are not extremely dense and are distributed in a translucent base, they don't emphasize texture on the skin and it doesn't look heavy. The finish is quite dewy without a sticky or wet texture on the skin. The pearls are suspended in this dewy translucent gel that makes the skin look naturally glowing.

With some highlighters, you can clearly see them on the skin but with this formula, you can't really tell where the highlighter begins and ends. Even when you layer it on heavily, the highlight looks stronger and more beaming but it doesn't look like you've applied a lot of highlighter. This versatile formula can continue to be layered to get your desired glow but it still offers a very natural glow. If you are looking for something more intense, this isn't the highlighter for you. This formula is definitely designed to look natural.

This formula is very versatile and can be used under foundation, mixed into foundation, or as a targeted highlighter. It is a quite loose liquid texture but not runny, almost like a liquified gel. When applied all over the face, it provides a very natural and healthy glow to the complexion. It peeks through foundation beautifully and gives the foundation a glow. The formula blends beautifully into many bases and again, it just adds a natural glow. Although skin toned, these highlighters are not a complexion perfector and don't have any coverage like the Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter (full review here) or the AURIC Glow Lust (full review here). These are a true highlighter with a natural skin tone. However, since the reflective particles are so fine, it does create a subtle perfecting or filtered effect to the complexion when you apply it all over. It does act a lot like the other modern liquid highlighters or skin perfectors on the market.

These liquid highlighters wear really well because they are thin and lightweight. They just blend into the skin, instead of sitting on top of it. Due to this thin formula, it doesn't migrate on the skin over time and when it does fade, it is indiscernible. This formula can wear beyond eight hours on the skin, depending on your skin type.

THE LOOK

You can see how reflective this formula can look on the skin when layered. These look very natural and you can see how it looks like a beam of light on the cheeks and not shimmer across the cheekbones.

FINAL THOUGHTS

I really adore this highlighter formula! It is the perfect balance between a pearlescent glow and a dewy glow. I find myself reaching for this formula often because it always looks good and requires so little effort. The packaging isn't my favorite because it isn't the most sanitary design. I can look past this because I love the formula so much. This formula works so well to give a glow under foundation, mixed in, and as a targeted highlighter. I find myself often using the highlighter all over under my base for a fresh glow and some perfecting of the skin but also, as a targeted highlighter to finish for an extra glow! Even with all this layering of highlighter, it never looks heavy or too metallic! It just looks so healthy and fresh. This versatile formula will flatter any skin type and skin tone, regardless of shade! That is something very unique and hard to accomplish with any makeup formula. You really don't need to purchase more than one shade, like I did. It's really unnecessary. While the product is on the pricey end, the formula is well worth it and you get a lot of product for the price. I highly recommend these highlighters and I would pick them up while they're available.

  1. Thank you so much for this review - it’s really helpful! I’ve been struggling to decide on which shade to get, so your swatches and assessment of the minimal differences between them has been most welcome. Really lovely product shots too.
