You can easily ensnare me with the words hyaluronic acid and By Terry does amazing things with hyaluronic acid that you would never think about! This latest launch is so exciting! These new hydrating lipsticks are infused with hyaluronic acid, which makes them practically skincare! Who doesn't want to treat your skin while wearing makeup? This innovation is what I love about By Terry's formulas and their new products. I was very kindly gifted these lipsticks from By Terry but as always, this review will be totally honest. 

The By Terry Hyaluronic Hydra-Balm retails for $38.00 USD and is available at By Terry and other retailers. These lipsticks are housed in metallic deep purple tube with large printed logo and the "By Terry" name printed on the tube. The tube is made of plastic but it seems to be a nice, sturdy, and actually weighty packaging. 

The lipstick itself has the By Terry logo imprinted into the top of the actual lipstick. The lipstick has a flat oval shape that is wide and makes it easy to apply the lipstick quickly. This design isn't about precision but ease and comfort, which works with this formula.  

SHADES 

These balmy and hydrating lipsticks currently come in six universally flattering neutral shades. You know I love a nude or natural lip color. These colors all look so divine and universally flattering. I love seeing a flexible and universal range of neutral tones. The shades I have are the lightest and the darkest shade in the range:

Sexy Nude - This shade is a light cool-toned beige with a cool mauve undertone.

Tea Time - This shade is actually designed after Terry de Gunzburg's actual tea! In a class I took with them about this launch, she told a story about how she always takes her tea with a particular amount of milk and it makes this exact color. She wanted a lip color to mimic that exact tea shade and it couldn't be more universally flattering!

FORMULA 

The balm name is very accurate because these lean much closer to a balm than a lipstick. These actually have a very unique texture that reminds me of a lip oil and balm combined together. It feels like a lip oil in a stick form, which is something I've never encountered before. It feels amazingly smooth, creamy, very hydrating, slick, and just a little balmy. I really love the texture of these lip products and how they feel. The slick texture has a really nice slip to it but it doesn't feel greasy. 

This formula feels instantly hydrating without the formula being heavy or thick on the lips. It actually has the thinnest texture, even when you layer it on heavily. It has an extremely sheer and buildable color but it doesn't build up to full opacity. It still has a translucency to the color but you can the pigment on the lips, not just the glossy finish. I really enjoy the glossy finish it really reminds me of the finish of a lip gloss but the feeling is much more nourishing! 

Since the formula is so thin and hydrating, it isn't designed to last and you'll get a wear time of about one to two hours. I don't mind this at all because I know when I choose a formula like this, I am choosing comfort over wear time. Even though it feels like a lip oil, it doesn't cause other products to break down when worn underneath. I love pairing these lip colors with a lip liner for a little more definition and they work together beautifully. 

I find that this formula really smooths and plumps out the lines in the lips, unlike any balm, gloss, or lip product I have tried. It is really impressive because it really makes the lips look so fresh and youthful. It really gives the look of a juicy pout with very little effort. I find that even as the balm starts to wear off, my lips still feel so hydrated. This really feels like a lip treatment with a little tint and that is what love about it! 

This product is also versatile enough and designed to be multi-purpose. By Terry recommends using these on the cheeks as well for a juicy and plump complementing cheek color. The hyaluronic acid will keep your skin plump and hydrated when you wear this. I love doing this with my glossy lip colors and I love that this product is designed to be used for both lips and cheeks. 

A final thought on this product, these balms have a perfumy floral fragrance, which I will say isn't my favorite. In general, I believe perfumy and floral fragrances have no place being in lip products because you will end up tasting them. Luckily, this one isn't too strong of a scent, you will still taste it if it gets in your mouth but it isn't nearly as bothersome as other lip products I have tried. I would personally prefer no fragrance or any other fragrance but I'll put up with it because the formula is so phenomenal!

FINAL THOUGHTS 

I'm a huge fan of tinted balms because I'm all about the comfortable lip colors and glossy finishes. This formula REALLY IMPRESSED me and I'm officially obsessed with these! I love the way they instantly hydrate my lips without feeling heavy or greasy. The colors are all so beautiful and universally flattering, I really must have them all! This formula is particularly impressive because it plumps out all the little lines in the lips, making the lips look fuller and juicier! The hyaluronic acid in this formula keeps my lips hydrated, long after the balm has worn off. I really think this is a formula that anyone can wear and everyone will love! It's an effortless lip product to just toss into your bag and apply without a mirror. These tinted lip balms are far superior to others on the market. They really do feel like skincare instead of makeup! I just can't rave about these lip balms enough! Do yourself a favor and get at least one shade but I must warn you, you may end up grabbing one shade for every bag or every location in your home! I've only had mine for a little over two weeks but the shade Sexy Nude has been living in my handbag and has quickly become a shorter nub because I can't stop using it!
