| Review | LYS Beauty Higher Standard Satin Matte Cream Blush

This small indie brand has been selling out of these beautiful cream blushes and after trying them myself, I can see why! With so many brands popping up in the industry every year, it is hard to sift through all of the brands and find the true gems. After trying the products from LYS, the brand is underrated and they have truly produced some beautiful products. Also, their products are affordable and won't break the bank!

The LYS Beauty Higher Standard Satin Matte Cream Blush retails for $16.00 USD for 0.23 oz/ 6.5 g and is available at Sephora. These cream blushes are housed in a large plastic rose gold triangular compact. While the closure is magnetic, the packaging doesn't have weight or heft to it, but it doesn't feel cheap. I was actually shocked at how large the compact and pan are for the price! Even at the drugstore, you can't get 6.5 grams of product for $16. These large compacts also have a large mirror, which is really nice for application.

SHADES

This blush formula currently comes in six different shades, designed to suit a wide range of skin tones. I think for a small brand the shade selection is quite impressive because these will span a range of skin tones. I'm sure we will see an expansion of this color range after the wild popularity of these blushes since they launched at Sephora. These are the shades I purchased:

Kindness - This shade is a soft creamy peach with a slight pinkish undertone but when blended it's mostly the peach that comes through.

Confident - This shade is a burnished rosy berry-brown and when blended it out, it looks more neutral. However, the rosiness will be more apparent the fairer skin you have.

Self-Love - This shade is a medium-deep cool berry that will suit a wide range of skin tones and offer a pinched cheeks flush.

FORMULA

Initially, I wasn't sure where the "satin matte" description came from in the product name because I didn't look satin or matte when applied on my cheeks but it is more the formula really adapts to the base underneath. The formula also lacks any shimmer or reflective particles. These blushes are incredibly pigmented so, you don't need much to achieve a fresh flush. These appear more satin finish when used directly on bare skin or on a more satin or matte base. However, I often wear very glowy or dewy finish bases, so I find these blushes look much dewier.

This cream formula is actually quite unique because it is quite thin and blends into the skin like water! At least over a dewy base, it looks and acts this way. I have never come across a cream blush formula that looks like watercolor on the cheeks. It is a really beautiful and impressive formula! The blush melts into the skin seamlessly and the pigment is very buildable. These cream blushes create a flush that looks like it is naturally coming from the skin and not the appearance of makeup sitting on the skin. Even on a more matte base, the cream blush may look more like a cream but it blends seamlessly into the skin.

The formula is thin with a little bit of slip to it but once it is blended in, it doesn't feel like there's any product sitting on top of the skin. It has a fresh water-color, stain-like finish to the skin. It looks really fresh and quite dewy on the skin. When it starts to fade and the texture starts to disappear, it looks more like a stain on the cheeks but not matte.

I would say, for cream, this blush lasts on the skin exceptionally well! When I swatched these on the back of my hand and I took a shower and I was shocked that there was still a stain left on my skin! I find that this formula wears quite well, approximately five to beyond eight hours, depending on the base you have on, the climate you're living in, and your skin type. This is a product that definitely won't live through a hot summer day but it certainly has a much longer wear time than your typical cream blush.

THE LOOK

This is what the blush looks like on a more natural finish base. You can see that the blush looks more like a satin texture and it looks like a stain on my cheeks. This shade is confident, which looks much more rosy on my skin right now because I don't have much color in my complexion these days from being inside all the time.

FINAL THOUGHTS

These blushes are so impressive for the affordable price tag! I would certainly be willing to pay much more for these but I am so glad they are an affordable brand. The texture of these blushes is so smooth, balmy, and silky. I am very impressed with the flawless application and the watercolor-like finish. These are cream blushes have a very elegant and expensive feeling and looking formula. I am honestly shocked at how inexpensive the formula is for how high quality it is. The way it adapts to the skin or base and the wear time is just so impressive. This versatile formula will really work on every skin type from very dry to oily skin types. The finish is really versatile and the formula fuses with the skin so beautifully. I will say that these blushes are probably one of my best purchases I've made in many years! The value and quality are really unmatched! I can see why they are constantly sold out and people are scrambling to get more! I think I may need a few more for my own collection and I hope they will continue to bring out more shades!
