Natasha Denona I Need A Nude Glow Highlighter Review and Swatches

| Review | Natasha Denona I Need A Nude Glow Highlighter

Holiday highlighters are blowing up at retailers everywhere this year. Perhaps, it's because we just need a little more brightness in our lives this year. Natasha Denona is one of the brands I associate with GLOW and she has continually brought on the glow with her cheek palettes and highlighters. I think everyone was hoping this would be one of her cheek palettes with the four different products and textures but it's a single shimmering highlighter. There's nothing wrong with that but I think with the popularity of these palettes it was in high demand for another one. I have always enjoyed the Natasha Denona highlighters and this one was one I couldn't pass up.

The Natasha Denona I Need A Nude Glow Highlighter retails for $42.00 USD and is available at Sephora and other retailers. The thick plastic compact is actually lightweight with a magnetic closure. It is very reminiscent of the face palette packaging but just smaller. This packaging is simple and chic, making it easy to travel with and store.

SHADE

This highlighter comes in only one universal shade, which should suit pretty much all skin tones. This highlighter is a warm golden champagne highlighter. Color-wise, it's nothing special to her range or the beauty market. I think we've seen this color so many times and it's honestly a little disappointing for a limited-edition holiday launch. I would have loved to see a more nuanced shade with more complexity and maybe even a duo chrome. The highlighter looks like it is composed of various nude tones but it is just the mosaic embossing that makes it appear as if there are a variety of shades.

COMPARISON SWATCHES

With so many highlighters being released this holiday, I'm sure you're wondering how this one compares. I have swatched this highlighter next to the Pat McGrath Skin Fetish Sublime Skin Highlighter, the Natasha Denona I Need A Nude Glow Highlighter, the Natasha Denona Tan Bronze & Glow Palette Glow Impact Powder (full review here), and the Burberry Essentials Glow Palette Medium to Dark Pink Champagne Highlighter (full review here).

FORMULA

This highlighter has a very popular gel-powder formula that seems to be available in almost every brand. This formula is pigmented and can offer a ton of color and shine. The nice thing about this formula is that it is very buildable and can be layered using very thin layers. If you pick up a little product you can get a sheer wash of highlighter, but if you use a denser brush and pick up more product you can get an intense glow. This gel-powder formula blends into the skin very seamlessly, leaving just a beautiful beam of light.

This highlighter is a no-brainer effortless highlight. It is very hard to fail in applying and blending such a universal shade with a soft formula. Since the shimmer is so fine and is actually a part of the powder and not just mixed into the powder, it achieves a very seamless finish without emphasizing texture on the skin. The powder is very soft but has a silky and creamy texture. It doesn't look like a powder on the skin because of its unique texture. It isn't dusty at all and it adheres well to the skin. I find that this formula really lasts on the skin all day, beyond 8 hours.

THE LOOK

I received a ton of compliments on my highlight when I wore it in this look. I applied it fairly heavily with a small brush to the top of my cheekbones, a bit down the bridge of the nose, and on the cupid's bow.

FINAL THOUGHTS

This highlighter, like other Natasha Denona highlighters, have people complimenting me or asking me about my glow! While it isn't the most unique highlighter shade, it is a beautiful and universally flattering shade. It has just enough of a gold warmth to suit deeper skin tones but it isn't so warm that it won't suit fair skin tones. The seamless and easy application of this highlighter makes it even more appealing. The powder is fine and buildable, which makes it so wonderful for customizing your glow!

I own many highlighters and many that are a very similar shade but this formula goes beyond the quality of many brands within a similar price point. This is a highlighter I often reach for because it goes with every look and always looks good! If you're on the fence about this highlighter, I highly recommend it! While it isn't unique in its color, the formula is something certainly worth praising and owning.
