| Review | Elemis Peptide⁴ Adaptive Day Cream

Easily one of my favorite ranges from Elemis is their Peptide⁴ range because the technology behind it is so incredible and innovative. If you haven't read my previous reviews on the products in this range, check out my Elemis Peptide⁴ Night Recovery Cream Oil Review and my  Elemis Peptide⁴ Thousand Flower Mask Review. I have actually finished several bottles of the Cream Oil because it is really amazing! I was very kindly gifted this product from Elemis.

For those who aren't familiar with this range, the technology behind it revolves around our circadian rhythm, which is our sleep and wake cycle in a 24-hour period of time. Our bodies function differently during the day than they do at night. During the cycle, our bodies try to repair and care for itself through bodily processes. What this range does is it takes into account all the times when our bodies are caring and repairing our skin by slowly releasing nutrients throughout the day to help it repair itself. I love this technology because it really is backed by so much science. Our skin really does need the most nutrients in the evening times while we are sleeping because that is when our bodies are working overtime to repair our bodies, everything from the inside and out.

The Elemis Peptide⁴ Adaptive Day Cream retails for $62.00 USD and is available at Elemis. The cream is housed in a beautiful purple glass jar. The look and feel of the packaging is very luxurious.

FORMULA

The cream itself is a has a very rich gel texture, very similar to the Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream Ultra-Rich. It is a bit thicker in consistency but has a very refreshing gel texture on the skin. This is my ideal texture for day time as a dry-skin type because it is rich enough t really hydrate my skin but it is non-greasy and provides a very nice base for makeup application. You really don't need about a dime-sized amount for the whole face and neck. It absorbs relatively quickly for how rich and nourishing the cream feels but it leaves the skin with a smooth and silky finish. The finish isn't wet or sticky but almost as if I applied a hydrating primer to my skin. Again, it is not greasy but just hydrating and leaves your skin with a plump and plush feeling. This cream also makes your skin feel very smooth and soft, making it ideal for priming prior to makeup. It really helps soft imperfections and texture on the face. It is also an oil-controlling cream, which I have noticed that natural oils from my skin do not breakthrough as much throughout the day when I wear this cream as a primer. The fragrance of this cream is DIVINE! This Peptide⁴ range is made of flowers and the over such a soft and powdery fragrance that is so soothing and luxurious. It isn't at all strong or overly floral but more fresh and clean.

INGREDIENTS

The ingredients chosen for this cream are specifically curated to synchronize with your skin throughout the daytime. These ingredients are meant to treat, repair, nourish, and prime your skin throughout the day. As with many of my skincare reviews, I try to be as thorough as possible and provide as much information as I can through researching ingredients. However, I always recommend that you do your own research as well, as I am not a chemist or the creator of this product, so I can't tell you more than what I can find out.

Star Avensis Oil - This is one of the hero ingredients in the range and is the ingredient that helps offer the beautiful and soothing floral fragrance. This oil is cold-pressed and is known as one of the richest plant-based sources of Omega 3 Fatty Acids. This is amazing for dry skin types because it helps reinforce the skin's natural hydration barrier.

Night Scented Stock Seed Oil - This super anti-oxidant rich cold-pressed oil is extracted from seeds of a Night Scented Stock flower grown in the UK. This oil contains up to ten times more vitamin e than most commercial oils used in skincare. This is the main ingredient that gives the cream its lovely and soothing scent.

Cold-Pressed Honesty Seed Oil - This oil that derives from a flowering plant, also known as Lunaria, helps support the skin's natural moisture barrier, by retaining moisture and nutrients. The moisture barrier is important to your skin because this helps prevent bacteria from entering into the pores, as well as, keeps your skin protected and healthy, preventing wrinkles and damage to the skin. Your skin's barrier is the natural wall that keeps the bad things out and lets the good things in. Keeping this barrier strong and healthy will ensure your skin will be healthier long-term. This plant has very papery flowers and the seeds it contains has an oil that is very rich in fatty acids, which help naturally nourish and hydrate the skin. These fatty acids are essential in keeping your skin healthy and glowing. This oil also helps improve the firmness and elasticity of your skin, which is very apparent after long-term use of this cream.

Butterfly Bush Extract - Also known as the summer lilac, this ingredient is known for having an extremely potent antioxidant content and also helps soothe the skin. The strong antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties make this ideal for sensitive and acne-prone skin types. The one thing that I have always loved about this range is how soothing the formula is. It is always very gentle on the skin and helps reduce any inflammation and redness. This shrub is known for having healing properties in China and when used in skincare, it can help repair damaged skin tissue. Long-term, you will see a reduction in the appearance of your lines and wrinkles. The high antioxidant content also helps significantly with preventing and reducing wrinkles, as well as, protects the skin from environmental damage. This ingredient is known to help promote lipid-growth to strengthen peptide bonds in collagen. Strengthening these bonds means that collagen in your skin will not easily break down, which is what often causes lines, wrinkles, and sagging.

Thyme Extract - Thyme extract can perk up the skin and make your skin feel very refreshed. It also contains antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, which is great for those with acne-prone skin types. It also helps soothe itchy dry skin and make the skin stronger.

Mallow Extract - Marshmallow extract has been used historically for healing bug bites and burns because of it's soothing and anti-inflammatory properties. It is also an anti-bacterial, which is so great for acne prone skin and sensitive skin types. This will really help soothe any redness and inflammation, making it easier to cover with makeup. Mallow extract also contains low levels of ceramide precursor, which helps hydrate and protect the skin's barrier.

FINAL THOUGHTS

I think this cream is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! Especially, for those who like to wear makeup, this cream was designed to be used as a primer. It really helps smooth out the texture, hydrate the skin, and make your makeup look really good, all while treating your skin! I love the soothing properties of this formula from it's soft floral fragrance to the anti-inflammatory ingredients, this cream is really meant to make the skin look and feel balanced. It is very rare that I find a product that I would consider great for all skin types but this cream really will work for all skin types! It has ingredient to really nourish and hydrate dry skin, while also including ingredients that will help control oil for oily skin types. I am SO IMPRESSED with this formula, it is truly one of the best priming moisturizers I have ever used! I find many creams don't have enough priming properties to really be considered a priming moisturizer but this one really ticks all the boxes! While it doesn't contain an SPF, I really don't mind because I usually wear an SPF during the day and I like that I can use this primer in the evenings when I go out, without having to worry about flashback.  I highly recommend this cream for all skin types and especially, makeup lovers!
