Modern glitter formulas have been populating the market like crazy lately! We're seeing a huge revival of glitter but now with more refined and sophisticated textures, which is exactly what the people want. Hourglass has always been an innovative luxury brand that has continued to bring out exciting and different product to the market, this one is no exception!

The Hourglass Scattered Light Glitter Eye Shadows retail for $29.00 USD and is available at Sephora and other retailers. These glitter shadows are packaged in a little plastic pot, similar to many pigmented pressed into a pot from other brands in the past. When I first saw these, I thought that they weren't that innovative because many brands had already come out with pigments pressed into a pot but after using this shadow, I can say there is a significant difference in complexity. The shadow comes with a little piece of plastic covering that presses the pigment down. This is very important to keep because it you every travel with the shadow or it gets rattled around, it won't crumble and fall apart. 

While the pot looks very small, you actually get 3.5g of product, which is quite a lot and you really don't need much to get a beautiful glittering effect. These currently come in 5 shades, all of which are very wearable and beautiful. I chose to only test out one shade to see if the formula was worth purchasing the others. 

I chose the shade Reflect, which is a shimmering champagne shade. The most neutral of all of the shades in the range. I knew I would get the most use out of this color. 




Like I said, I felt like I had seen these before from various brands, like the Armani Eyes to Kill but Hourglass claimed theirs to be a glitter shadow. I respectfully disagree. These are more of a foil shadow, they give  more of a metallic foiled effect than a true glitter effect. Nevertheless, it's beautiful and I believe to be very unique! While many brands have come out with pigments pressed into a pot like this, I had yet to encounter one that offers a foiled effect like this! Also, while my choice in color may seem a bit boring, it is actually very complex when applied to the eyes. It not only has a metallic champagne color but little flecks of rainbow multi-dimensional sparkle in it! So it does have "glitter" but the flecks are so tiny and fine, you won't see them until they are applied. It's almost like a champagne disco ball! I have never seen anything like the finish of these before and they are truly eye-catching! These looking stunning in the evening when you're going to a bar or a club. When the light hits it just right, it's mesmerizing! 

The formula is interesting. It is very soft to the touch and delivers so much pigment upon first swipe of a finger! There's no denying that this product is pure pigment! While I am not a fan of applying products with my finger, this product really is best applied with a finger. I tried using a very dense flat brush and it took me several layers to get it opaque. The pigment doesn't seem to pick up on a brush very well however, it didn't produce any fallout, which was most impressive! If you choose to use a brush, you want to pick up a little at a time. Don't try to force more product onto the brush because the shadow will get crumbly and it will cause fallout. When I used my finger, it gave me the most intense impact with very little effort! So while you can use a brush, fingers are your best option.

The wear time is phenomenal with this product! I always use an eye primer, so with that in mind, I noticed it lasted for more than 8 hours without any creasing or fallout! I am very impressed! Wearing glitter eyeshadow is typically an ordeal with having to figure out how to make it stick and wearing it comfortably all day long, but this new age fine glitter formula is everything we've wanted and needed in the beauty world! The complex reflects make this product so unique! The product blends very easily and beautifully into other shadows and creates a beautiful foiled effect without applying an eyeshadow wet or dealing with sticky glitter glues! I love this product for an everyday glam and especially for a night out! The reflects are really unlike any glitter shadows I have seen and the overall look is so stunning! I plan on getting the other shades in the range because they're so beautiful! I would highly recommend you pick one up! I think this formula is really for everyone because it is such a sophisticated sparkle!
