| Review | Yves Saint Laurent Couture Blush in Nude Blouse

I feel like YSL has come out with multiple renditions of blushes and because none of them have done very well, we are seeing a new blush release from them once again. This time however, they look very promising and appealing so thought I'd pick one up. For science, of course!

The Yves Saint Laurent Couture Blush retails for $42.00 USD and is available at Neiman Marcus and other retailers. The blush is housed in YSL's classic shiny gold plastic compact. It is very light and easy to travel with but kind of lacks the weight luxurious feeling in your hands. The product is embossed with YSL's iconic envelope bag. It looks quite chic and cool. It's a nice added touch that I feel many luxury brands like to do that does adds bit to the luxury experience but I would personally prefer them to use that money towards more luxurious packaging.

The formula is actually quite soft and the texture is nice and smooth. While it is a very sheer formula, it builds up very well. It also picks up very well with a brush and applies very smooth and evenly. I personally prefer a sheerer blush that has a buildable consistency because I find it significantly easier to work with than an extremely pigmented blush. The swatch I have for you took several layers to build to that intensity, keep in mind it is also the lightest shade offering in the range. I have a great experience with this blush so far, it has lasted all day on me beyond 8 hours and still looks very fresh. I don't notice any fading despite being it hot weather.

As far as the shade goes, I really love it! Nude Blouse is a sheer slightly peachy nude shade with a very soft and fine glow to it. I would consider it like a satin finish and it actually does remind me of a "nude blouse" made of chiffon or something sheer and translucent. It really is a beautiful nude color that is versatile. However, it will probably only show up on fair to medium skin tones because it is so light. The range is fairly limited with only 7 shades available at the moment however, they appear to span quite a large range of colors and textures. So they do have deeper and brighter shades with a variety of finishes.

I have to say, I am quite impressed with this new formula. I think the texture and finish is beautiful, at least with the one I own. I love the way it looks and sits on my skin. It offers a fresh glow but doesn't emphasize texture or pores. I really appreciate the sheer, yet buildable texture. This texture makes it so wearable and easy to work with. It truly is one of those no-brainer kind of blushes that you can use when you don't know what shade to go with. The shade is neutral enough to not compete with other aspects of your makeup but just adds the perfect soft flush of color that brightens and lifts the complexion. The wear-time for this blush is excellent and I have had no problems with fading. I think YSL finally nailed a blush formula that we can all get behind. I'm intrigued by the other shades but I do own a lot of blushes, so I may not jump on getting anymore just yet. However, I do highly recommend this shade and this formula!

  2. I completely agree in that I prefer a sheerer formula as well in my blushes. I feel like with blushes and highlighters, they can go bad really quickly if you apply too much. Lighter formulas make for an easier application!

    1. Totally! I love a light but buildable color! You just get so much control over the application and you can intensify it if you need to! You should definitely check this formula out, I think you'd like it!
