| Review | MAKE Beauty Soft Focus Corrective Duo

I figured the best way to get a really good understanding of a brand is to try a huge variety of products. While I'm not one to experiment very much with concealer, I was very curious about Make Beauty's offerings and I got a great deal on Amazon for their products. I figured if I was trying their Soft Focus Foundation, I needed this concealer duo to pair with it.

The MAKE Beauty Soft Focus Corrective Duo retails for $32.00 USD and is available on Amazon and other retailers. These duos come in a range of 8 shades, which is really lacking considering their foundation range goes to 16 different shades. I ended up purchasing the shade Cool No.4, mostly because it was discounted at the time and I thought it would still suit my coloring, which is does! Not great news for those with deeper skin tones, considering I am only an NC 30 in MAC foundations and this is the deepest cool toned shade. So the concealer shade range is really lacking, unless you are going to only use this concealer for under you eyes to brighten and highlight. Even then, deep skin tones will not have a match and if they used this deepest shade, it will cause and ashy tone.

Although I didn't get the same shade of concealer as my MAKE Soft Focus Foundation shade, which is Warm No.3, this concealer still suits me quite well. It has a pink-red undertone but is a medium beige shade. The shade is very flexible and I was able to use this concealer both under my eyes and on areas of my face. The peachy-pink tone made it ideal for correcting under my eyes.

The product is packaged in a little stacking tower, where the concealer is in the bottom and the powder is on the top with a little flip cap. I think this very convenient and great for everyday or travel because both products you need are right there. The container is made of plastic and appears to be durable.

The coverage of the concealer is full but it doesn't feel or look heavy. It doesn't take much product to cover redness or imperfections and the finish is a very natural satin or velvet finish. The formula is very creamy and rich but not too emollient that it just slips everywhere. It was very easy to blend with both a brush and fingers. It does not crease or move, provided that you set the concealer with powder. I use the one provided on the top of the container.

The powder is a finely milled invisible powder that really helps set the concealer. It is very lightweight and picks up on a brush very well. You don't need much and it leaves the set areas with a soft matte finish. Quite natural and velvety. The powder does seem to control oil a bit, but by the end of the day, the area around my nose had a bit of oil coming through. This is only without primer underneath. If you apply a primer, I don't see oil being an issue at all.

I have to say as a person who isn't big on full coverage concealers, I really love this concealer! It has a very beautiful natural finish and it covers so well but doesn't feel or look heavy on the skin. The finish just looks like real skin but perfected. The formula is so easy to blend and I even love the little powder included! The powder is finely milled and invisible on the skin, so it will really work for any skin tone. It doesn't give a white cast and helps set the concealer without making it look to dry or heavy. The concealer last all day and pair so beautifully with the Soft Focus Foundation (full review here)! The concealer really helps give that soft-focused effect and helps cover my hyper-pigmentation really well, while maintaining a natural skin finish!
