Review: Estee Edit Metallishadows in Scarlet Eclipse and Aqua Nova

If you don't already know about Estee Edit, it is Estee Lauder's younger and trendier line promoted by spokesmodel, Kendell Jenner and social media star, Irene Kim. So if you thought Estee Lauder was for old ladies, think again! They've brought their beauty game up to the next level with a collection of makeup and skincare curated for the new generation of beauty consumers. The collection is a Sephora exclusive line and the promotional videos makes this line hard to resist.

"Rule breaker. Risk taker. Estee Lauder built her beauty empire by preaching “Beauty is an Attitude.” Now The Estee Edit brings you new beauty attitudes, inspired by Estee, curated by our Guest Editors of the moment–created by YOU. Wear it. Share It. Own It. #beautyattitudes "

The Metallishadow Creme + Powder ($25.00 USD for .07oz each) is a duo of matte cream shadow on the top and shimmering loose powder on the bottom. I found this product particularly appealing because of the unique cream shadow shades.

The cream portion of this product is excellent! The texture is not your typical cream shadow but much closer to a cream liner. The formula is not an emollient texture so, blending takes a little more work. I like this texture because it allows the user to also use the cream shadow as a liner. Although it is not emollient, it can still crease and the product does not set. I recommend using a primer with this product. I find the cream shadow long-lasting and pigment is very intense.

The powder portion is a very glittery and sheer powder, which is slightly disappointing. I understand that the duo is meant to be used together but I also feel that the two products should be able to stand alone. Although very beautiful and sparkly, the powder is sheer and does not adhere well without a base, however, this does not ruin this product for me. I do find the powder to be very messy, which is to be expected, but still an annoyance when dealing with this product.

Together, these duos are incredible! They create such a beautifully intense and shimmering look. For the price, I really think this is an amazing product. It's a fun and versatile product. You can play it up or down for day or night. The premise of this collection is edgy and fun cosmetics and I feel they nailed it with this product. This definitely a product that appeals to the new generation of beauty consumers but also can be a fun addition to anyones' collection!

If you had to get one product from the line, I highly recommend this product! Let me know what you think about the Estee Edit products! Chat with me on Instagram!

  1. These sound like my kinda thing! They're def reminiscent of RMK's fall'15 eye duos, but the with the Estee duos are probably much more refined. I wonder if this type of cream formula is also less prone to drying out.

    1. I think you're going to love them! They are such a fun product and very versatile. I plan on using the powder shadow in combination with some of my other cream shadows, since they're so sheer. Hm.... I wonder too! The cream formula seems like they won't dry out but who knows. The packaging of the product is a plastic flip cap, which is very different from any cream shadows I've used. For $25.00, I can't be too mad about it drying out in a year or so... its a pretty fair price for the two products!
