| Review | Danessa Myricks Beauty Dewy Cheek & Lip Palette
Did someone say, "dewy" because I'm sold! Makeup artist, Danessa Myricks, is known for her stunning work and undeniably signature dewy complexions. This palette also drew me in with its wearable shades and the promise of a dewy glow. This palette appeals to makeup artists and makeup enthusiasts alike. However, is this formula really for everyone? Read on to find out.
The Danessa Myricks Beauty Dewy Cheek & Lip Palette retails for $32.00 USD and is available at Sephora and other retailers. These cream cheek and lip products are packaged in a very practical and makeup artist-friendly clear plastic packaging. The packaging is pretty sturdy and thick. The lid snaps closed really well and prevents the creams from drying out. I like that you can see all the shades from the packaging. Overall, it's good packaging but nothing special.
SHADES
These palettes currently come in two different colorways - a collection of vibrant shades and a collection of neutral tones. Each palette contains four shades varying from light to dark. This palette is ideal more for a makeup artist than just an everyday makeup lover because the variety of shades allows you to customize cheek colors for clients of all skin tones but if you like having a variety of shades in your collection, this is great. These shades can be used in a variety of ways - alone, mixed together, layered together, and layered with other products.
Dew It Undercover
This selection of shades is all fairly neutral starting from a very light beige to a deeper plummy shade.
Coquette - This shade is a light peachy beige shade that will suit fair to medium skin tones. The shade also makes a beautiful nude lip color or can be mixed with the other shades to lighten them for your skin tone. The shade is not pastel on the skin, though it appears that way in the pan.
Sweet Cheeks - This shade appears to be a warm caramel bronze shade in the pan but it appears much warmer and has a coral tone on the cheeks. The brand describes it as a sunkissed coral and I think on the skin, that's a pretty apt description.
XOXO - This shade appears to be a deep mauve in the pan and on the skin, it is a medium mauve shade with a slight neutral brown undertone. This shade is a universally flattering shade on all skin tones and will work for all occasions.
Tease - This shade looks very deep in the pan but it is a cool purplish-plum shade that will suit many skin tones particularly, a deep skin tone. To make this shade more wearable for lighter skin tones, you can mix the other shades into this one.

FORMULA
This formula is a slightly sticky balm texture when you press your fingers and run it through the product it isn't super-emollient but it does have an emollience to it. The product is very pigmented and glossy, hence, the "dewy" in the name. These balms are quite pigmented but if you pick up a little you can apply it quite sheer. Also, the formula is translucent so, even with a heavy application, you will still see skin peeking out from underneath. It makes the whole flush effect very fresh and natural-looking.
Though the balm is tacky it has just enough emollience to blend on the skin and it can move the base around underneath, depending on how you apply the blush. If you apply it with a brush with a stippling motion, you are less likely to move your base around. You can also use a sponge or your fingers but be sure to use a tapping motion to avoid lifting up your base. The slightly sticky texture is not my favorite and there is a chance things will stick to your face like hair or dust. It does help the product cling onto the skin and last a lot longer.
I will say that this product can last over eight hours on the skin, depending on your skin type. I think on average it will wear about five or so hours. This product does transfer easily because it doesn't set down at all and it's like a balm on the skin. Wear time will also be affected by your base underneath, the dewier your base, the less likely the blush will stay on the skin for a long time.
On the lips, this product will last a lot like a gloss, about one to three hours, depending on how much you're eating and drinking. This formula isn't my favorite texture for the lips because it isn't balmy or creamy enough and you have that tacky texture on your lips. So, it feels like a sticky lipstick but it doesn't offer a ton of gloss but it still has a tacky texture. The pigment is rich so, you will get a noticeably different color on your lips, like a lipstick but the lack of a balmy texture means that this formula emphasizes texture and doesn't sit nicely on the lips. You will definitely have to prep your lips really well prior to using this product on the lips.
While this formula is touted as a multipurpose product, I don't think it is a versatile formula. This product works beautifully on the cheeks and it's ok on the lips but not a preferred texture. I think you can also use this product on the eyes but again, it is tacky so, it will be very similar to an eye gloss. I personally, think if you're going to use this product, you should just stick to using it for the cheeks.
THE LOOK
You can see how very glossy and fresh this product looks on the cheeks and on the lips, it looks very much like lipstick with a hint of sheen. In the first look, I used only Sweet Cheeks and in the second look, I mixed a bit of Coquette and XOXO.
FINAL THOUGHTS
I like this palette but I don't love it. However, I do recommend it! I think the concept of a cream blush palette is fantastic for makeup artists and for those who really enjoy mixing up their own cheek color. This palette has varying shades of a similar tone, which really allows you to switch up your cheek color easily by mixing colors. Again, this is more useful for a makeup artist for matching cheek colors to a variety of skin tones but not as useful for day-to-day use. The rich pigment and buildable texture make it suitable for all skin tones. I don't love the slightly sticky texture but it doesn't bother me. I am used to using glossy formulas, which tend to have this kind of texture but with the technology available these days, a sticky texture is often not common because it isn't a desirable trait. This slightly tacky texture does allow the product to adhere to the skin really well and last. I really love the look of this formula on the cheeks and it really delivers a stunning glow. It's just not the ideal formula for lips even though, the brand does recommend this as one of its uses.
