If you know me, you'll know I love glossy skin! This glossy stick formula first came out this spring and I enjoy the formula a lot. You can read my full review on the Spring 2021 Stick Glow here. I knew when I saw this formula pop up again, I had to pick up the new shades. This formula isn't for everyone but if you do enjoy a really glossy glow, you may be interested in these stick cheek products.

The Dior DiorSkin Summer Dune Collection Stick Glow Blush retails for $35.00 USD and is available at Dior and other retailers. These blush sticks have a reflective plastic silver tube. The packaging is sleek, chic, and convenient. This twist tube packaging is lightweight and easy to travel with. More functional than luxurious but the packaging is still nice.

SHADES

There are two shades released in this collection both of which are very sheer and have very fine shimmer dispersed throughout the product. I really wish they would make this formula a touch more pigmented and the shades a little more vibrant to suit a wider range of skin tones. Worst than the spring collection, these shades won't even show up on a medium skin tone like mine. I actually bought these because I thought these were highlighters and not blushes but these are clearly labeled on the Dior site as a blush.

Golden Haze - This shade is described as a warm gold but on the skin, it is a clear glossy shine with very fine gold and champagne shimmer with a barely-there champagne tint.

Pink Sirocco - This shade is described as a light pink but it is basically clear with no pink pigment at all but with a few fine pink shimmers.

FORMULA

I really liked this formula when I initially tried it from the spring collection but the formula is clearly very inconsistent because these have no pigment to them at all! The spring versions at least have a light tint that was visible on the skin and I could believe that those were blushes but these don't seem to be designed to be blushes at all. I thought that these were highlighters because when you look at them you can see all the fine shimmer but the base color doesn't show up at all. The Pink Sirocco shade is literally invisible on the skin, there is no real shimmer or color that shows up on the skin, just gloss. Now, that could be the one that I have because I noticed the way these are poured is inconsistent. My Golden Haze shade has significantly more shimmer than the Pink Sirocco but the shimmers are not evenly dispersed through either of the blush sticks.

The Golden Haze shade at least offers a touch of champagne hit with some very subtle golden shimmer on the skin. Still, when applied to the skin, it looks mostly like a gloss. The texture of these glossy blush sticks is very much like a lip balm. It is a little tacky and wet on the skin with a slightly oily texture. This balm is emollient but it isn't greasy, just a glossy wet texture. It will cause hair to stick to your face so, if you're not a fan of that, then look elsewhere for a stick blush.

Since there is pretty much no color to these, I use these as a highlighter but frankly, that is really disappointing. I don't think anyone should pay this much for a clear face gloss. You could use this on your lips and eyes as well but again, it only adds gloss to the skin.

This formula is also ideally applied over bare skin or a minimal base because this glossy blam will cause your base to move a bit. I have applied this over my foundation and it still looks really good and doesn't cause the makeup to break down but you will notice the foundation transferring onto the stick blush.

Since there isn't much color to these, they're more about giving the skin a glossy finish. This glossy finish will last all day and for pretty much all skin types will continue to look glossier throughout the day as your skin oils peek through. Like I said at the beginning of this review, this formula isn't for everyone.

THE LOOK

You can see from this picture that you can't see either one of these products on my skin. I applied Pink Sirocco on the cheeks and Golden Haze on the cheekbones but my skin just looks really glossy. The glossy texture is all that these really offer. If it looks like I have blush on here, that's because I ended up putting a liquid blush on top of my cheeks. My complexion desperately needed some color.

FINAL THOUGHTS

While I actually really like this formula for a glossy balm blush, I can't recommend these particular shades. They don't have any pigment to them at all! I don't think they will even offer color on a fair skin tone. Also, while you could use these as highlighters, you can find a glossy highlighter or face gloss for much less than these blush sticks. It's such a shame these are so sheer and the shimmers are barely there on the skin because the gloss formula is actually quite comfortable to wear regularly. These just don't have enough pigment to be considered a blush and it doesn't have enough shimmer to be a highlighter. They're just a clear gloss and that's just not worth it. I would like to see this formula again from Dior but an improved version. I believe if this formula was refined and perfected, it would be something that could be a permanent item in their collection. Especially, with minimal makeup trending these days, this product falls perfectly into that category.
