| Review | Dior DiorSkin Pure Glow Collection Stick Glow Blush

Well, Dior, you had me at GLOW. I've decided my new thing for 2021 is minimalist makeup and it's not only because it's trending and it's what everyone is trying to sell to us this year. I really have found that as I've gotten older, I appreciate thoughtfully applied minimal makeup. Also, I love having some texture on the skin and there's nothing that provides a prettier flush than a cream blush. These stick blushes were too intriguing to pass up!

The Dior DiorSkin Pure Glow Collection Stick Glow Blush retails for $39.00 USD and is available at Dior and other retailers. These beautiful balmy blushes are housed in a stunning monogrammed silver twist tube. The tube is made of lightweight plastic, which isn't the most luxurious but very practical. This stick format is so convenient and easy to use. Also, these are so easy for traveling and touching up.

SHADES

There are only two limited edition shades released for Spring 2021. They are designed to be universal but given the sheer formula, these shades really aren't enough to cover even part of the skin tone spectrum. Unfortunately, I think these shades will suit up to a tan skin tone but really they will work best on a fair to medium skin tone. I think they suit me at the moment because it is winter and I have been inside a lot but if I even develop the lightest tan in the summer, these may not show up.

Coral Glow - This shade is a very sheer peach it's actually lighter than the Pink Glow shade and has just a touch more warmth.

Pink Glow - This shade is a very sheer pink tint that leans barely on the cool side.

FORMULA

These blush sticks are very unique because you often see cream blushes in this format but these aren't cream blushes, they're blush balms. These balms are extremely sheer and translucent, which is indicated by the translucent jelly look of the product, itself. Don't expect much pigment from this formula because it isn't designed to deliver much pigment. It is a lightly tinted balm that gives the skin a lot of gloss and glow. It gives the skin a barely-there natural tint to the cheeks. You can try to layer this product but it doesn't really layer to add much pigment to the skin, it will still look very sheer.

This product is really about the texture it adds to the skin, which looks glossy, wet, and very dewy. The texture is a classic balm texture, reminiscent of a lip balm. It feels a bit tacky and wet on the skin with a very slight oily texture. This isn't an oily balm but it does feel hydrating and it feels like there is a little bit of oil in the formula. The wet texture it leaves on your skin is a magnet for hair so, you may want to wear your hair back or up if this drives you a bit crazy.

This wet and dewy texture makes the skin look very healthy, youthful, and fresh. This texture is ideal for those with dry or mature skin types. It is hydrating and gives the skin a very youthful glow. If you have oily skin, this can emphasize that oiliness. The dewy glow is very intense and doubles as a highlighter. This is nice for those truly seeking a minimalist product and look.

I initially thought that this balm formula would only work on bare skin but it did successfully apply on top of foundation. It is best on bare skin or the most minimal base to minimize movement of the base underneath. While this formula doesn't cause the base to break down or fade, when applying the blush stick directly to the skin, it will pick up some of the base product. However, it still applies evenly and smoothly on the skin. I think if you're going for a truly minimal look, spot covering and leaving the cheeks as bare as possible is best. Like I had already stated, it still looks good on top of foundation. This makes the formula quite versatile.

Since this formula is so sheer, you won't get much wear out of this product. You can expect about 2-5 hours of wear, depending on your skin type, your local climate, and how much activity you're engaging in. The nice thing about such a sheer and effortless product like this is that you can easily touch it up.

THE LOOK

You can see how shiny and glossy my cheeks look with these blush sticks on. I love how fresh and glowing my skin looks with these on but it may be too glossy for some people's taste. You can also see how subtle the color looks on the cheeks and how it looks like a natural flush. The two shade look more distinct in-person than in photos. Also, Pink Glow has more pigment than Coral glow, as you can see here. I also applied Coral Glow on bare skin and Pink Glow on top of a little bit of foundation, this does account for how subtle Coral Glow looks on the cheeks.

FINAL THOUGHTS

This is a very particular formula and isn't for everyone. You have to really like a very natural barely-there look with a strong glossy texture. I knew upon purchasing these that they would be quite glossy and sheer but it is much sheerer than I expected it to be. I really wish that it had just a touch more pigment to it so, it would work on a broader range of skin tones. This product really speaks to me because I love a glossy glow and I have been very into minimalist makeup lately. However, I know this look and texture really isn't for everyone. With the limited shade range and a very particular texture, this product would have to be something you'd use often to make it worthwhile. While I am disappointed with how sheer the pigment is, it also creates a very unique look and effect. If this suits your skin tone and your beauty style, I highly recommend it! For many, I can see this being an easy pass but I don't think it's a bad product, it's just not a suitable formula for everyone! I would love to see some more shades and just a little more pigment in these. However, I have no regrets and enjoy using these blush sticks!
