I haven't bought anything from Sunday Riley since their fake review scandal a couple years ago but this product just piqued my interest so much. I love the idea of a mist that has the properties of an essence and a resurfacing toner. This formula seems to be touted as a one-product-does-it-all because it seems to do a lot of things. Let's discuss if it is with giving Sunday Riley another chance. 

The Sunday Riley Pink Drink Firming Resurfacing Essence retails for 48.00 USD and is available at Sephora and other retailers. This product comes in a delicate and sleek looking skinny glass bottle. The clear glass allows you to see the beautiful pink liquid inside. The mist mechanism is very good, providing a fairly fine mist but there are still splatters of larger particles. Not the best, but not bad either. Let's just say, I've used finer mists than this. 

The bottle is a lot smaller than I had expected but it actually contains 1.7oz/50 ml of product. This is pretty standard in the luxury skincare market, for example, if you look at Tatcha's Dewy Skin Mist it actually contains less than Pink Drink, only 1.35 oz/40 ml. Also, skin mists tend to vary quite wildly in volume, and since this is technically not a skin mist, but is more of skin treatment or essence you're not getting ripped off with the amount of product given to you. 

FORMULA 

The essence is quite watery since it can be dispensed from a spray bottle. The essence feels very light and refreshing on the skin, very similar to a facial mist. I spritz it all over my face until I get a fine and even coverage. Then, I go in with my serum and moisturizer. This essence feels instantly refreshing and hydrating. Like a face mist, I feel this essence provides an extra boost of hydration and helps seal in moisture into my skin. This is most likely due to the hyaluronic acid in this formula. 

Of course, anytime your skin is hydrated, your skin will have a healthy glow but it is after using this essence regularly that you will see a natural glow and improvement in your skin. While it is called a resurfacing essence, its exfoliating properties are very gentle and occur over time. You will see the best results with this product the more consistently you use it. However, you will notice overnight an immediate healthy glow to your skin, your skin feeling softer, and feeling smoother. 

I used it day and night for a week and I saw a significant improvement in the appearance and feel of my skin. My skin definitely had a very noticeable healthy glow from within and I felt like my skin was significantly softer. Not only did I notice that my skin was softer but the surface texture had been smoothed out and my skin felt very smooth. It also goes deeper into the skin, helping improve the elasticity and suppleness of the skin! I really noticed bouncier, healthier, and glowing skin. 

This product is definitely a hybrid between an exfoliating essence and a facial spray. It not only improves the texture of the skin but it contains a lot of nutrients and nourishing ingredients to provide more than exfoliation. This is clear from the amazing snd glowing results I have seen! There is no noticeable fragrance that I can detect, which is great for sensitive skin types. This treatment should work well on all skin types.

Some ingredients to highlight are: 

Peptide Complex - Peptides are the building block of the skin and the key building blocks of collagen. As many know, collagen is important for maintaining youthful and healthy skin. Peptides improve the skin barrier, keeping it healthy and preventing harmful agents from penetrating the skin. They also reduce wrinkles, increases elasticity, reduced inflammation, and can help clear acne. 

Prebiotic Complex - I am quite torn about whether probiotics actually exist in skincare because probiotics are supposed to be living microorganisms, which would mean the product would have to be constantly refrigerated to keep these microorganisms alive. Since it doesn't seem to be temperature sensitive, it's hard to say whether there are probiotics in this formula. However, probiotics are supposed to support the health of the skin barrier, decreasing visible surface redness, and promoting a healthier appearance. I do notice that there is a decrease in inflammation and redness in my skin. I also noticed my skin looking and feeling healthier after continued use. 

Green-Tea-Derived EGCG - Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), is found in green tea and is an ingredient that is very well studied in science. It has been proven to increase moisture retention and reduces wrinkle formation. The research is highly technical but from what I have read, it is a fairly potent anti-aging ingredient. 

Ceramides - These are known for being the glue that binds the skin cells together, creating a healthy and sealed skin barrier to prevent bacteria and other foreign agents from penetrating the skin. As we get older, our natural ceramides in the skin begin to breakdown so, the addition of ceramides in your skincare will help support the health of your skin. 

Citrus, Fruit, and Plant Extracts - Fruit and plant extract tend to be high in antioxidants to combat free radical damage, The citrus extracts are high in vitamin c, which brightens discoloration and removes dullness. Citrus extracts also help soften and smooth the texture of the skin. The plant extracts are soothing and hydrating ingredients for the skin. 

Alcohol - As you can see, alcohol is listed but at the very bottom of the ingredients list. I feel like alcohol has received a very bad reputation in the past few years and it isn't a necessarily bad ingredient. Since this is presumably so far down on the list because it is such a small part of this formula, this should not affect the skin whatsoever. Alcohol is known for being drying but only in very high proportions compared to the rest of the ingredients in a formula. I can tell you that as a dry skin type, I have had no issues with dryness or negative effects from the alcohol contained in this product. 

FINAL THOUGHTS 

I can't deny that I am extremely impressed with this product and formula! From the overnight glow and transformation of my skin's texture to the long term results of more supple and elastic skin, this product really delivers results! This refreshing mist delivers hydration, like a facial mist but like an essence, it also delivers a powerful skin treatment. I think this is an amazing hybrid product that does so much for the skin. Since this product is so gentle and full of nourishing ingredients, it works on all skin types. I have tried many skincare products but it's been a while since I have considered a skincare product an essential. This essence is a MUST-HAVE and should be an essential in everyone's routine! While pricey, this essence mist really delivers the firming and resurfacing claims. The essence is an amazing addition for any skin type and I really can't recommend it enough!
