| Review | Charlotte Tilbury Tinted Love Lip & Cheek Tint 

With 2020 being the disastrous year of the worldwide pandemic, our beauty needs and necessities have changed dramatically. We've moved to much more simple and wearable makeup with a formula that has longevity, instead of full-on glam looks. The more practical and multi-purpose the product is, the more I'll be reaching for it. I think Charlotte Tilbury had practicality in mind when she developed this dual-purpose formula. Seeing as how I really loved her Pillow Talk Lip & Cheek Tints (full review here), I have very high hopes for this exciting new formula. 

The Charlotte Tilbury Tinted Love Lip & Cheek Tint retails for $34.00 USD and is available at Charlotte Tilbury. I purchased mine during an early release and they will be back in 2021, stay tuned! These multi-purpose tints are housed in a fairly large plastic tube, each shade with a coordinating colored tube. The tube is larger than a typical lipgloss but isn't absurdly chunky. They come with a rose gold top, which is the handle to the doe-foot wand applicator. The doe-foot is small and has a slight curve to it, allowing the product to pool in the curve of the doe-foot. 

SHADES

These lip and cheek tints currently come in 5 shades, ranging from a natural nude tone to a cherry red. This should give everyone a shade that will suit their skin tone. All the shades are perfect for both lips and cheeks, making the color range quite versatile. The shades I purchased are: 

Santa Euphoria - This shade is a very soft and natural warm nude peach-pink shade. On the cheeks, it looks like a very natural warm flush, barely detectable and convincing natural flush. On the lips, it looks like a warm my-lips-but-better shade. 

Bohemian Kiss - This shade is a natural reddish-brown shade. On the lips, it can look like every natural flushed lip color but it can also be built up to be a vibrant bitten lip color. On the cheeks, it looks like a very natural flush, like you've been running or it's very cold outside.

FORMULA 

This tint is exactly as described, a TINT. It is extremely sheer and can be built up but not by much. The first layer is very sheer and barely there, the second layer is more of a natural flush, and the third layer gives you a much more significant tint. I personally don't find a point in sitting around and layering this product more than three times because it is meant to be very sheer and natural. This formula isn't a traditional stain, although the finish is described as a "satin stain". The staining effect is light but also depends on the shade you use, the more vibrant shades leave a bit of a stain but overall this formula isn't long-wearing on the lips. You can see how this formula stained my bare skin so, if you want longer wear, apply this product to bare skin.

This formula starts off quite wet and with each layer, it takes some time for the formula to dry down on the lips or the skin. I feel that it doesn't really "dry down" on the skin unless you're applying it to bare skin. This means it gives the cheeks a very fresh and healthy look. Since the formula is hydrating and comfortable, the wet texture of the layers of the product lasts quite for a while on the lips and cheeks, about 30 minutes or so, until it drys down. 

Once it dries down, I would say the finish is a natural satin stain look. It looks very skin-like or when on the lips, lip-like in the finish. If you didn't tell anyone you had makeup on, someone would definitely easily mistake the tint for your natural lip color or cheek color. This product is certainly directed toward those who love a no-makeup-makeup look. 

The great thing about this formula is that it is very comfortable and even hydrating! The wet texture feels like a watery-gel on the skin and lips. It's a very pleasant and refreshing texture that lingers on the skin. This only poses an issue when you want to layer the product, this formula draws out that process. It also surprisingly works very well for both lips and cheeks, which is a rare feat when it comes to multi-purpose products. Charlotte Tilbury seems to know how to create the perfect multi-purpose product though because I was wild about the Pillow Talk Lip & Cheek Glow (full review here). These were a limited edition product that offered more pigment and had a creamy texture. 

These tints really don't last long and I don't think it's just the shades I bought because all the shades are demonstrated on the Charlotte Tilbury website and they're all very sheer. This formula didn't last through a bowl of ramen on the lips. If you didn't eat or drink, you might be able to get about 3 hours or so of wear out of these. It's hard to tell because the color is so natural. So, the good thing is that it will fade very naturally and the fading is undetectable! On the cheeks, I found I got a lot longer wear out of these beyond 5 hours but this will depend on your skin type and foundation. What I've gathered from testing these is that they're not meant to stain the skin but literally just give it a soft tint. Think of it as a watery liquid blush or lip color. 

FINAL THOUGHTS 

While I was hoping for something much more long-wearing and stain-like, this product is nice for what it is, which is a tint. This is definitely one of those products that aren't for everyone. I can see many people finding this product to be a waste because it is so sheer and so natural, they'll think why should I bother? Since I have been reaching for less makeup these days, easy products that apply quickly, and products that are multi-purpose, I actually quite like this product. If you really love no-makeup-makeup, this is the product for you! These offer a really beautiful fresh and natural look that just enhances the face giving it just a little color. If this is a product that you can see yourself using often, it is well worth the price because the quality is exceptional. The formula is shockingly so comfortable and hydrating! It feels and looks so wonderful on the skin and lips. Again, it's a very niche product and for those who like more pigment and more intensity in your look, this really won't be for you. However, for a natural everyday look, it's quite a stunning product. I would recommend this product and I think it is a wonderful multi-purpose tint!
