SHADES

While the Paris by Night Palette is cool-toned and quite smokey, this palette is lighter and brighter, as you would imagine for a day palette. The shades run on the warm side but there is a very good balance with some cooler shades as well. It really allows you to get a ton of versatility. I also love the balance of matte and shimmer shades, which allows you to get a ton of depth and dimension.

By Terry V.I.P Expert Paris By Light Eyeshadow Palette Swatches

Swatches from left to right: Cool Brown, Coral Pink, Cream, Copper, Ivory

Cool Brown (matte)  - This cool matte chocolate shade is perfect for adding a ton of depth, smokiness, and balance to the shimmer shades. This is the deepest shade in the palette, which means you will only get up to this level of darkness and depth. Given that this is a day palette, I think this is more than enough darkness.

Coral Pink (matte) - This shade appears very reddish-pink in the pan but it has quite a warm coral undertone when applied on the skin. This shade is a very unique matte eyeshadow and it adds a lot of warmth to the palette. This shade is surprisingly versatile and looks amazing in the crease or as a lid shade.

Cream (matte) - This is a great standard cream shade that is quite neutral. It works very well as an all-over shade to even out the eyelid or as a browbone highlighter. This is a great standard shade in any palette.

Copper (shimmer) - This shimmering copper shade is striking on the eyes. It has a warm bronze base and very strong coppery shimmers and reflects strewn throughout.

Ivory (shimmer) - This light ivory shimmering eyeshadow has a subtle warm glow and subtle light gold reflects.

Swatches from left to right: Gold, Cool Gray, Champagne, Bronze, Pink

Gold (shimmer) - This shade is a true yellow gold with golden shimmer throughout it. This is a shade that is classically flattering on every skin tone and easy to wear.

Cool Gray (matte) - This shade appears to be a cool taupe shade in the pan but on the skin, it's a much cooler light gray shade. It has a cool plum undertone that pairs well with many of the shades.

Champagne (shimmer) - This shade is a true champagne shimmer with a very soft warm tone. This shade makes an excellent inner corner highlight or a beautiful brightening lid shade.

Bronze (shimmer) - This shade is a true medium bronze with a warm undertone and coppery and gold shimmers. This shade is deep enough to add dimension but light enough to wear alone without looking too smokey.

Pink (shimmer) - This shade is extremely unique! It appears quite pink in the pan but it has a very strong lavender shift to it. You won't be able to tell in the swatches but when paired with other eyeshadows on the eyes, it can turn into a pale and bright lavender. You can see in the "look" section of this review.

FORMULA

The description of this eyeshadow formula is taken from my review of the Paris by Night Palette because the same comments hold true for this palette. If you have already read that review, you can skip this section.

Matte Eyeshadows

The matte eyeshadow formula is soft, lightweight, and blendable. I would consider these matte eyeshadows to be fairly pigmented and very buildable, which is my preferred formula. These shadows pick up on the brush very well and although soft, they don’t cause fallout. They adhere very well to the eyes and apply evenly. It doesn’t take much product to build up to an intense color but I often use the matte shadows as contour and defining shades so, I don’t often want them to be extremely pigmented.

These eyeshadows have a very silky texture and they blend out well but it remains very rich in color and pigmented. I love how these matte shadows adhere to each other and other eyeshadows. It makes it very easy to build upon eyeshadows and create a complex look.

Shimmer Eyeshadows

These shimmer eyeshadows are very pigmented, vibrant, and rich! One swipe and you're guaranteed to get a full veil of color! These eyeshadows have a very creamy and dense texture. It is almost a texture that feels between a cream and a powder eyeshadow. These types of formulas tend to crease but this one has a very nice balance between being creamy and having a powdery finish, so there is no problem with creasing. This creamy and dense texture adheres very well to the eyes and doesn't fade at all throughout the day. In fact, my eyeshadow is as vibrant at the end of the day, as it is when I first applied it.

The shimmer in these shadows is very fine and because of the creaminess of the eyeshadow, these appear very metallic on the eyes. This is a beautiful finish that works well on all ages because it doesn't feel over the top or over emphasize texture. These eyeshadow layers very well on top of each other and they blend seamlessly into each other. I really love that when these shimmer eyeshadows are layered they mix together and transform into interesting and complex new shades.

THE LOOK

For this look, I took the Coral Pink in my crease and concentrating the color on the outer crease. I placed the Cool Brown in the outer corner of the eye and blending it up to the Coral Pink. Then, I took the Copper shade and placed it in the middle of the eye. I blended some of the Bronze shade in between the Cool Brown and the Copper for a more seamless transition. Finally, I placed the Pink in the inner corner blending it into the Copper. You can see how the lavender reflect in the Pink shade really comes through on the eyes. I finished with the Cream shade on the brow bone.

I have to say, this is one of my favorite looks ever! It's not only so flattering but it's such a unique color combination! There's so much depth and complexity in this look! I can't get over how amazing it looks!

FINAL THOUGHTS

I had a feeling that this palette was going to be very well-loved but what I didn't expect is the complexity of the shades in this palette! Admittedly, it initially looked like a neutral palette I had seen before but after using the shades, I can tell you this palette is something special! The colors look a little obscure together but when applied on the eyes, they play off of each other so well and they look so eye-catching!

The formula of these eyeshadows is the true winner here! The density of the shimmer formula is just perfect! Enough to be creamy and rich but not so dense that they crease and muddy up together. This is quite an accomplishment. It is very hard to impress me with eyeshadows these days because I feel like I've seen them all and tried them all but this formula is something totally different! I love working with this palette so much!

This is a palette that is so easy to use day to day but also amazing for traveling because it has al the shades you need. The palette is sleek and easy to travel with, the shadows can easily go from day to night with this palette alone, and the formula is fool-proof! It's hard to decide which of the two Paris palettes I like more. I would say if you're going to choose one, choose the one that you'll use the most or the one that has shades you don't have in your collection.
