Review: Tom Ford Shimmer Shots

SHOTS! SHOTS! SHOTS!!! EVERYBODY!!! For Tom Ford Fall 2016,  they released some glimmering liquid illuminators to put some glow back into our weary fall/winter skin. The liquid illuminators are offered in two shades in Spin Spin Sugar and Lust for Life. I haven't seen a liquid illuminator since Fire Lust and I was so happy to see these ones out on counters.

The Tom Ford Shimmer Shots retail for $45.00 each for .05 fl. oz available at Tom Ford, Neiman Marcus and other retailers. They're packaged in Tom Ford's luxe twist-pop top packaging, same as the primers and foundations. The containers are a sturdy plastic for easy travel and storage. The pump does release a decent amount of product and is a bit difficult to control.

The formula is very smooth and can be sheered out or worn very intense. These shimmer shots are much more intense than Tom Ford's previous liquid illuminator in Fire Lust. The shimmer is strong but very refined and gleaming. There are no large particles of shimmer in these illuminators. These highlighters are reminiscent of the Cover FX custom drop illuminators but not nearly as intense, making them much easier to work with, These do not emphasize texture of pores but just leave the skin with a beautiful glow. The product sets on the skin so it doesn't feel tacky or wet. The finish is the perfect amount of gleam.

Spin Spin Sugar is a pale frosty pink. It is quite cool and almost silver but it will flatter all skin tones. Due to the versatile formula, it can work for anyone from fair to dark.

Lust for Life is a golden bronze shade. It is quite intense and quite dark. For fair to medium skin tones, this will be more of a blush/bronzer shade or you can mix it with a lighter foundation to make it darker. I like to do this with my lighter foundations.  For tan to dark skin tones, it will be a beautiful illuminator.

These are obviously beautiful on their own but they can also be mixed with foundation or other liquid products. A little does go a very long way, so although there doesn't seem to be a lot of product, it will take you a while to use it up.

Overall, these illuminators are fantastic and I highly recommend them! The shimmer is so fine and formula is so easy to work with. Both shades are versatile and can work for all skin tones. It may not seem like a lot of product, but you don't need much to get a glowing effect.
