| Review | Victoria Beckham Beauty Posh Lipstick
The '90s are back, baby! Posh is back! Time to travel back to the years of skinny eyebrows, questionable hairstyles, and nude lipsticks. I think my inner child is dancing with glee with the release of these 90's Spice Girls inspired lipsticks by the one and only, Posh Spice. Let's be honest, I've always been a Posh Spice and now I can live out my childhood dreams with this new lipstick range. I haven't loved everything in the VBB range but I have very high hopes for this new release. Are you ready to spice up your life?
The Victoria Beckham Beauty Posh Lipstick retails for $38.00 USD and is available at Victoria Beckham Beauty. These luxurious lipsticks are housed in a very slim cylindrical tube with the iconic tortoiseshell pattern that is found on all VBB products. These slim tubes have a luxurious weight to them and feel very opulent.

SHADES
This lipstick currently comes in 9 shades, mostly leaning on the nude or pink side; however, there is a signature red shade. I purchased 7 of the 9 shades. I decided to skip out on the cool-toned red shade, the berry shade, and the deepest brown lipstick, which are shades I don't often wear. I love that there is a wide variety of nude and wearable shades for all skin tones. I feel like, for an initial lipstick launch, this is a very inclusive range of shades. The lipstick shades are either warm or cool-toned, to suit a wide range of skin tones.

The names of the lipsticks are all very nostalgic and very Victoria Beckham circa the '90s. These fun references to her Spice Girl days are a delightful way to reconnect with the former pop star through a new shared passion, beauty.

From lightest to darkest, here are the shades I have:
Pixi swatched on the lips |
Pixi* (Updated 9/14/2021 - This shade is now Smile) - This shade is considered one of the "warm" lipstick shades but it leans more neutral. It has a very slight warm tone but it is a true light beige shade. This shade is extremely light and needs to built up more than the other shades. As a medium skin tone, this shade is much too light for me without a lip liner. It looks like I applied concealer to my lips. This will suit a fair skin tone or will be great for layering with other shades to lighten a lip color. *I am not sure when they changed the name of the lipstick or why but I am sure the shade has not changed, only the name
Girl swatched on the lips |
Girl - This shade is considered one of the "warm" lipstick shades but it has a bit of a rosy undertone. This is a lovely rosy nude shade that is very close to my actual skin tone. Again, because I have a medium skin tone, this shade is best with a lip liner. However, if you have a light-medium or fairer skin tone, this will be a nice nude that won't wash you out.
Pout swatched on the lips |
Pout - This shade is a warm petal pink shade. It may be too light for some who are medium to deeper skin tones and look a little stark but I found that after I lightened my hair, I could pull off these light pink shades much better. It is not a shade I consider to be universally flattering but it is very beautiful.
Spice swatched on the lips |
Spice - This shade is a warm caramel camel color that will suit many skin tones. Again, being a medium skin tone, this one kind of blends into my skin tone with a warmer hue. I would recommend using a lip liner if you are medium to tan because your lips may just blend right into your skin. That being said, it's still a beautiful color full of warmth and will make any complexion look a little more tan.
Sway swatched on the lips |
Sway - This medium cool pink will suit just about any skin tone. This is the universally flattering shade in the range and one that I consider a good "bridal" shade. While leaning a bit cool, it still flatters all skin tones and will make your teeth look brighter and whiter. This shade is one that requires no lip liner and no mirror. Just an easy everyday lip color for anyone.
Pose swatched on the lips |
Pose - This shade is a cool taupe color with a plummy undertone. This is a very 90's brown lip color but with an interesting mauve undertone. I find this shade extremely flattering on my medium skin tone. I don't often go for a cool lip color but this one is easy to wear and flattering.

FORMULA
This formula is a sheer buildable coverage that can be built to quite an opaque color. It takes several swipes to build the color to get an opaque color, which makes this lip color very versatile. You can easily wear it sheer if you want something more natural or build it up to being fairly opaque. While I don't have the deepest shades in the collection, I don't notice any staining from these lipsticks. I did notice that the lighter shades don't build on the lips as well because they lack pigment and you may run across the issue of the color sinking into line or emphasizing texture on the lips, despite it being quite a creamy formula. I find the more vibrant and deeper the shade, the less you have to worry about the pigment sinking into your lip lines.

This formula is a hybrid between a sheer glossy lip color and a creamy opaque lipstick. It has a medium pigment, a strong glossy sheen, and a creamy finish. The creamy texture of these lipsticks feels amazing on the lips! It feels very nourishing and smooth on the lips. I tried these lipsticks on my dry lips without prepping my lips with any balm and after about 15 minutes, my lips felt very nourished, hydrated, and smooth! It was quite impressive! I had noticeable texture on my lips but this formula smoothed out all the lines, cracks, and dryness. It felt extremely comfortable and had a balmy texture on the lips that I absolutely love. Of course, that means that the wear time is significantly reduced and there is a high chance of transfer. I find that this lipstick will last about 3 to 5 hours depending on how much you're eating and drinking.
The biggest trade-off with this creamy and comfortable formula is the wear-time. You really have to choose comfort over the wear, which is something I gravitate towards as I have aged. I much rather reapply my lipstick than have it wear uncomfortably all day long. The slim design and the sheer buildable formula of this lipstick makes it very easy to reapply blindly without a mirror.
INGREDIENTS
Victoria Beckham touts her brand as having a "clean formula" and is eco-friendly. From their recyclable packaging to their plant-based ingredients, these lipsticks are the most luxurious clean formulated lipsticks I have tried. "Clean" is always subjective, so please do your own research if you are concerned about the ingredients. However; from what I can tell about this formula, it is quite clean.
Here are the highlighted ingredients stated by the brand themselves:
Posh Lipstick is powered by ultra-nourishing, supremely clean, plant-based superfood ingredients that gently plump and baby your lips.
Rose Flower Wax: The highly nourishing wax protects against environmental aggressors and helps retain moisture in lips.
Natural Wax Blend: Candelilla, Carnauba, and Sunflower Waxes create a comfortable, cushiony texture and lock in moisture.
Oil Blend: Rosehip, Coconut, and Avocado Oils provide intense moisturization, nourishment, and shine, while also helping to renew and heal chapped lips.
Pomegranate Jojoba Complex: Smooths and plumps lip lines.
I must agree that this formula is extremely nourishing and does plump the lip lines. I really do feel that those oil blends are hydrating and nourishing my lips as I wear this formula. There is no noticeable fragrance to these lipsticks from what I can tell, which it great for those who have a sensitivity to fragrances.
FINAL THOUGHTS
I recently became a fan of sheer and glossy lipsticks but I still often crave pigment on my lips. Well, these satisfy both categories so well! I'm able to get the best of both worlds - a creamy pigment and a glossy comfortable finish. These are quite a unique formulation and very unexpected from the brand. I feel this formula is wearable for all ages and all skin tones. I really do believe there is a nude or wearable shade for everyone. Plus, I am sure she will be expanding the shade range. I will warn you to be aware of some of the lighter shades sinking into the lip lines but this can be remedied a bit with some lip liner. Personally, as a medium skin tone, I think many of the shades are quite close to my skin tone and I will have to use a lip liner with them. I don't mind because the shades are so flattering. I really love the creamy and balmy texture of these lipsticks. The formula is so nourishing and comfortable that I find myself constantly reaching for these and I often have a couple living in my bag. This formula hits all the right spots and will please lipstick and gloss lovers, alike.
