It's been a while since I found myself using a tinted moisturizer. I have always been a fan of a tinted moisturizer formula but many brands haven't been releasing them lately. This tinted moisturizer from Tom Ford has been in the works for several years now! I remember speaking to my local counter associated several years ago and they told me that this was coming out, then the summer collection came and went without seeing the tinted moisturizer release. I was then told that is was postponed due to something with the ingredients. It isn't until now, many years later that this product was finally released and I couldn't be more excited about it!

The Tom Ford Glow Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15 retails for $70.00 USD and is available at Beautylish and other retailers. This tinted moisturizer is packaged in a sleek and slim squeezable white tube with a gold cap. This slim packaging is great for on-the-go and traveling because it makes it easy to pack and the plastic isn't delicate like a glass bottle. It's not the most luxurious packaging but this is pretty standard for a tinted moisturizer. 

SHADES 

This tinted moisturizer only comes in 10 shades but it does span a decent range of skin tones. However, this means that most people, including myself, will have to choose the closest shade match but it may not be an exact shade match. This is pretty common when it comes to tinted moisturizers and it usually acceptable because the sheerer formulation is more forgiving. 

I am usually the shade 6.5 Sable in the Tom Ford range, however, this shade doesn't exist in this range. I ended up with the shade 5.7 Dune because I know that 5.5 Bisque is too light for me but has the right warm undertone and 6.2 Cool Dune is a cool-toned shade. The next deepest warm shade is 7.0 Tawny, which I knew would be too dark for my skin tone. WARNING! Before selecting a shade, keep in mind that this tinted moisturizer oxidizes very badly! In the swatch below, you will see the color changing and this is within 5 minutes of sitting on my skin. This oxidization actually works for me because it actually makes the tinted moisturizer closer to my skin tone. So, I recommend picking up a slightly lighter shade than a slightly deeper shade. 

5.7 Dune surprisingly suits my skin quite well despite the fact that I have gotten a bit of a tan lately. I think this may be because the formula is very flexible and sheer, adjusting to your skin tone. The shade itself is actually a more neutral-warm medium shade, which will probably suit possibly anyone from NC25-NC35. If you're on the lighter side, this shade may just give you a bit more color.

FORMULA 

This tinted moisturizer has a very lightweight cream texture with a subtly balmy texture that blends into the skin very seamlessly. The formula feels fresh and hydrating but not greasy or oily. While you can apply the tinted moisturizer with a brush, the best application is with your fingers to easily blend the product into the skin and provide a more flawless finish. 

The coverage of this tinted moisturizer starts very sheer but can be built up to a light-medium coverage but not much more than that. The most coverage you'll get will even out your skin tone and add a nice glow but for stronger areas of redness or sun spots, you'll have to use a concealer. 

The finish is TRULY GLOWING! I thought the Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate Soft Radiance Cushion Compact was glowy but this wins on the glow factor by just a bit. That means, it is insanely glowy! The finish is very fresh, luminous, and glass-like! Wait, no, mirror-like! It's that shiny and reflective on the skin, which I love but even for a glow-obsessed person like me, it is a bit much. It really borders the fine line between glowy and greasy with its toe just over the line. I highly recommend ordering your t-zone area or within an hour or so you'll a little sweaty and greasy. 

This tinted moisturizer has a good wear and can last beyond 8 hours on my normal to dry skin type. Given that it's a bit warmer right now, I'm ordering closer to a normal skin type and I still managed to wear this tinted moisturizer for more than 8 hours without a primer on. I did see a little bit of fading by the fifth hour of wear but it wasn't so significant. It faded very evenly and my skin didn't look patchy, it just didn't seem as flawless as when I first applied it. 



One thing I don't want to forget to discuss about this foundation is the sun protection. This foundation contains SPF 15, which I personally think is the most useless thing ever. When it comes to SPF in foundations, I am all or nothing! I don't see the point of putting in SPF 15 because even my daily moisturizer has more SPF than this and for the most part, I always apply SPF as part of my skincare routine, which is always at least SPF 30. I feel like if you actually want to put sun protection in a foundation, just go straight to SPF 50, at least then, it's actually doing something. Ok, SPF rant over but really? SPF? So unnecessary. 



THE LOOK 

While I am wearing a very glossy cheek product, you can see the luminosity of this tinted moisturizer around the rest of my face. It is still extremely glossy and dewy all over my face. I also didn't powder face in this application and you can see how dewy it looks immediately. Over time, I can tell you it gets desire.

FINAL THOUGHTS 

If I'm being perfectly honest, I'm not that impressed with this tinted moisturizer formula. It feels, wears, and looks pretty standard on the skin. There really isn't anything mind-blowing or innovative about this formula. It's just a tinted moisturizer. It's nice but not nice enough to justify the high price tag. I have used many tinted moisturizers from across various price ranges that look and feel exactly like this one. The finish of this one is probably the glowiest I have encountered, which I love but I know many people will find it to be too much. This isn't a disappointing product, it's just another tinted moisturizer. With such a high price, limited shade range, and basic formula, I can't recommend it. I recommend exploring other options before adding this one to your cart this summer.
